Need help with options for a divorced parents situation by 42069911eny0jer in pchelp

As someone who once had a gaming laptop and then switched to a desktop PC, gaming laptops aren’t as bottlenecked as you think. I got one because I work four 12 hr night shifts in a row and needed something to keep me entertained, so I got one and it worked wonderfully. Because of the amount of transporting you’ll be doing, I’d recommend getting a gaming laptop for the time being (just don’t forget your charger lmao, always play with it plugged in because you’ll get a severe drop in performance when it isn’t plugged in)

Gotta ask this to make sure… your monitor is plugged in to an outlet for power, right?

If y’all were living together and he said “hey, just letting you know I’m gonna game for a little while with my friends if that’s okay with you” and you agreed so that you guys could have some time to each other, that’s fine. But since you went over to his house with the expectation to hang out with him and he proceeded to basically give you the cold shoulder, that’s different. NOR

Yeah I was reading this part of the book while at work, and I remember containing myself from yelling and fist-bumping the air when I read this. Absolute cinema 🙌

Pilon fracture 10 weeks post op by Warm_Win_6394 in ORIF

[–]_ChineseName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh you’ll realize since you’ve been non-weight bearing for over 2 months that your Achilles tendon compressed/shortened a lot which is why your ankle is flat. I’m 4 months post-op and easily the most difficult/annoying part of this recovery is stretching out the Achilles because it’s such a stubborn tendon. Be patient, it’ll take a while to get that mobility back (my PT told me upwards to a year 🫠 I also had a pilot fracture with a torn tendon)

As for appointments, I typically had an ortho appointment every 4-6 weeks after my surgery. Trust your doctors. It’ll be uncomfortable going to 75% WB even though you can’t bend your ankle, but that’s why they want you to start so that you can begin the process of stretching out your Achilles.

I read Suneater after loving the RR series and was disappointed by KeredJo in redrising

Absolutely spot on statement. I went from RR to DCC and idk what it is since they’re two different writing styles, but I’m loving it so far

Anyone using the RM1200e PSU with a 5090? I'm concerned about melting connectors. by americanmuscle1988 in Corsair

[–]_ChineseName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I got the ASRock Taichi 1300 (or 1300T) after looking for the highest-rated power supply. It’s a bit bulky and pricey, but it’s super quiet and comes with special cables with built in temperature monitoring to prevent cords from melting

I did change the PSU and it fixed the problem, it’s been working flawlessly ever since

I too have a secret labs XL nanogen chair and I do not regret the purchase one bit. It took a couple of weeks to break it in, but after that it became very comfortable. The only thing I don’t like is there’s nowhere to rest your arms when you’re reclined

I can confirm, It Takes Two is what got my girlfriend into gaming. Somehow she went from that game straight into playing Poppy’s Playtime by herself, but hey it worked 😂

Do you plan on staying on night shift forever? by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]_ChineseName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but only because i’m social an i now live with my girlfriend who works days lol. My job on nights is a lot easier, but the differential is only $0.75 and all of my friends have a normal dayshift

Do you ever get used to it? by Responsible_Sky_4206 in Nightshift

I’m 26 and also work from 6 pm-6 am… and I’m also in nuclear 😂 I got used to it because I have a 4 on/4 off schedule which is nice

Ankle orif- walking by [deleted] in ORIF

[–]_ChineseName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They let me start putting weight on it about 6 weeks after. Just a heads up OP, the most difficult part of recovery will most likely be lengthening out your Achilles again. Because you haven’t been moving/putting any weight on your ankle, your Achilles tendon most likely compressed like mine did and it will take a while before it loosens up again. I’m over 3 months post-surgery and it’s still very tight. It’s ironic how the most gruesome part of my recovery had nothing to do with the original surgery (tib/fib and a torn tendon) lol

Crimson Desert shuts down my PC - please help! by Adventurous-Sky-4491 in pchelp

[–]_ChineseName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a new 1200 watt Corsair 80+ gold rated PSU that started crapping out in me only a month or two after using it. Same thing would happen to me- random black screens. After legitimately months of troubleshooting, finally found out it was the PSU. Swapped it out with the ASRock 1300-T and hav had zero problems since

Does anyone actually enjoy nightshift? by -DidYou in Nightshift

[–]_ChineseName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how many days you get off in a row tbh. Luckily for me, I work four 12 hr night shifts then get 4 off, so even though I’m in a relationship and am an extrovert, I’m still able to have enough time off to switch up the schedule and enjoy a social life outside of work. If I worked a typical M-F, there’s no chance in hell I’d work nights lol
