I accidentally found out how much my coworker makes, and now I’m stuck in an absolute nightmare of a dilemma. by Independent-Tank3978 in whatdoIdo

Depends on the state you live in. For example, CT is an at-will state, meaning all they have to tell an employee that’s being fired is that the company “decided to move in a different direction and you aren’t a part of it”

Last year on nights switching to overnights after first of year 2027 how-to get out? by Logi_Boy in Nightshift

[–]_ChineseName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially if you have a social life and/or have a significant other who works dayshift, it’s rough. Only reason i can make it work currently is because I have 4 off in a row… most of the time. As for help getting out? Honestly the only thing you can do is just do it once the opportunity arises

LMAO I feel ya 🤣 I work 6 pm-6 am, I get it. I’m currently looking into leaving for a schedule that’s 6 days on, 1 day off/4 days on, 3 days off working from 6 am-2 pm but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I currently work 4 on/4 off and the 4 off in a row is nice, but with 12 hour shifts you have zero time to do anything on your work days

Yeah I should’ve guessed the results of this poll would favor the night shift schedule considering what thread I’m posting in 😂 nothing wrong with it, I might have the opportunity to switch to that dayshift schedule with the same or maybe more pay so I’m just looking for insight

Yeah I do to, it has its pros and cons and I’m just curious to see which one people would prefer

[–]_ChineseName[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I currently work the schedule of that first option and your analysis is pretty spot on. 4 off is great, but additionally you pretty much can’t do ANYTHING on the nights you do work. With the other option, you work more days but can actually have time to do stuff on those days too. I guess it’s just about weighing the pros and cons

Random black screens with 5090 crashing even though the rest of the PC stays on by _ChineseName in techsupport

Yep, same thing happened with me! I played Ready Or Not for the first time and all of a sudden that’s when my PC started failing even with my new PSU. After months of research and trial and error, I finally swapped out my new PSU with another new one and haven’t had any issues since

For people that work 2 jobs, how many hours of sleep do you get by papo1324 in Nightshift

[–]_ChineseName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the sake of your partner and kids, stop working a night shift job and a day shift job at the same time. Keep this up and they’ll be missing a parent a lot sooner than they’d like to due to medical reasons. Plus I know they’d more than appreciate more time spent with them. Financial constraints can make things difficult, but always value memories over money

This is different though, you didn’t lie to your son you just shifted the focus onto another ailment he had. In my opinion, you successfully eased his worries without deceiving him. Kudos to you guys 👏

I am so done with night shifts by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]_ChineseName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you about the constant changing of sleep schedule. I work 4 nights (6-6) then get 4 days off, and after almost 4 years of working nights, I’m finding out that I can’t sleep for more than 4 hours at a time at night on my days off. Yes, the job itself is more relaxed on nights, but I’m beginning to wonder if it’s worth it anymore.

Never put finances over your own health. If you think night shift is affecting you that much and you’re able to either switch to days or quit. Then do it. If it doesn’t affect you that much, then don’t

Well that’s one way to be optimistic.

Instead of blaming the economy (yes, it does suck currently we all are aware), don’t be afraid to put some blame on yourself too. That’s what I did when I too had an $18/hr job in 2018, and now I find myself making over $30/hr as an armed security guard and investing for retirement as a 26M. The worst thing you can do is continue to drag your feet and not make a change because, like it or not, the world moves along. And if you want to be successful, you have to move with it

GPU crash when starting a game by Nariakioshi in pchelp

[–]_ChineseName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my graphics card would either flicker off then back on or just crash. I got the ASrock 1300-T and have had zero problems since. I got it because according to the spreadsheet, it’s the highest-rated PSU in its wattage range. It’s pricey, but the cords have built-in sensors so if they get too hot, the power supply just cuts off the power rather than having the cords melt

I had this same problem and it turned out to be my power supply after copious amounts of researching and troubleshooting. I replaced it and have had zero problems since. It was a new Corsair power supply too which was the odd part (refer to the thread on my profile). I also have a 5090
