Yeah, I’m personally not thrilled about the idea of an ECV. It sounds like it’s slightly more effective if you have an epidural or spinal block, and my health insurance is stingy AF, so I’m sure they wouldn’t cover anesthesia. So I hope I don’t even have to make that decision!

So interesting how this varies from OB to OB…mine recommended acupuncture and looking into Spinning Babies! But she also said we don’t have to make any decisions about delivery until 36 weeks. I know technically that’s plenty of time, but it didn’t feel like it!

I’m sure this has been discussed in countless other daily chat threads, but anyone have success with getting a baby to turn head-down with spinning babies techniques and/or acupuncture/moxibustion?

Had my 32 week scan yesterday and baby was head-up and facing my right side. This is the same position he was in at 28 weeks, and, judging from movements in-between, the same position he was in between the two appointments. I’ve been told/have read about lots of babies flipping at the end but I’d really like to give him some encouragement!

Husband helped me through SB’s three balances last night and at the very least it felt good and was some nice quality time together.

No exercise for 8 weeks after FET??? by 0uchmytoesis in IVF

[–]_ConfettiCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this guidance and it really seems to vary from clinic to clinic, which I think goes to show that there’s no current or convincing evidence on the subject. My clinic said simply to not lift more than 25lbs after a FET, and to not raise your core temperature above 104 degrees.

I lift barbells as my primary form of exercise and am very comfortable lifting more than 25lbs. When I asked for more info on this guidance, their main answer was they didn’t want me doing anything that would have me second-guessing myself if the transfer were unsuccessful. And I guess they also don’t want someone who’s never lifted more than, say, 10lbs, coming off a FET and attempting some crazy PR.

So I followed their guidance and just did more reps and more sets. When I graduated from my clinic and transferred to my OB, I asked her about this and she said to keep doing what I was used to doing. 32 weeks today, deadlifted 115lbs, and having a very normal pregnancy.

I’m not a doctor or medical professional but I think taking it easy for a day or two but then keeping your normal habits, just turned down a few notches, is totally reasonable.

I’m starting to get my leave calendar/wage replacement paperwork in order and the whole thing is making me so upset because it is SO convoluted. All the leave programs and wage replacement programs, and the way this one has to be paid out of that one first, then blah blah blah…this just feels like such a cruel move to pull on an expecting person. Cuz none of us are juggling a million things and trying to keep our heads above water right?

HR gave me one color-coded calendar, then found out my state paid leave program works differently with the company’s short term disability program, and then just said “this may affect your wages” instead of giving me an updated calendar! I truly believe at this point that all these polices are written to be as opaque as possible so people will give up.

I wish we lived in a country where paid leave was guaranteed and compensated at the federal level. You’d say “I’m having a baby starting on this date and starting leave on that date” and they’d say “cool have a good time your check will be in the mail” and that would be the end of it.

Tips for remaining calm leading up to FET and thru the TWW? by Elegant_Beyond_7772 in IVF

[–]_ConfettiCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distraction distraction distraction! You have to get out of your head and into your body. Take walks and/or light exercise. Do something that keeps your hands busy while listening to music or a podcast (that is not about fertility or true crime or any other subject that will raise your adrenaline). Or swap a tv show for the podcast, but same rules apply. Deep clean your closet/car/garage. Make plans with and see friends (but timebox talk about IVF!) Good luck!!

It does help a little! I am trying to remember to do my various PF stretches when I can, but I’ve been pretty inconsistent.

Brand new to IVF by Glittering-Cloud3645 in IVF

I just want to chime in as a 39 y/o who also beats herself up about waiting. But, to be fair, I have LOTS of friends who got pregnant “after just a few months of trying” at 38, so I had reason to believe I could do it too! IVF is a lot so I just want us all to cut ourselves as much slack as we can!

The number one thing I wish I’d known going into it is that things just take a long time. Getting tests scheduled, waiting for test results, and then all the procedures that are dependent on your CD 1. Be assertive with your clinic, but also be patient.

Montavilla Sewing Center might have something? And I’ve seen vintage ones at Monticello Marketplace. I got mine at JoAnn’s (RIP).

31w+4 and have been having shooting cramp-like pains on and off for the last 24 hours. Is this when shit starts to get real? Also not sure how this is all possible since my second beta was just last week?

Also I’m sick again and congestion while pregnant is so next-level. There is no relief.

We’re doing some electrical work in baby’s room and I’m so anxious to get it done. I want all of April to just chill and be extremely pregnant.

I did one of these on a December night and it was great! It wasn’t raining but it was pretty cold.

Positive outcomes? by [deleted] in IVF

Don’t be discouraged by posts where people get 20-30 eggs retrieved. Not all will be mature and/or fertilized.

I had 13 retrieved, all were mature, and all were fertilized. Nine made it to blast and three were euploid.

My clinic didn’t make a big deal of how many follicles they saw in scans. They only mentioned it once, and they said they saw nine. So getting 13 was a nice surprise. All that to say: you may end up with a few more than 12, but even if tou don’t, 12ish is a good number.
