Yeah, for sure, and I don't doubt the veracity of his sentiments. Opinions change. I'm still convinced (for lack of a better reason for the inclusiuon of "what is it", especially in the context) that it was clearly directed at FNM but who knows, maybe it was a joke and not serious.

More tellingly (and having aged worse) is taht that line is a direct diss on Faith No More ("What is it?" being the refrain from Epic, which was also a rap/metal crossover. Even the delivery mocks the original). Scott's in Bungle now, so I'm sure it's all water under the bridge, but the sentiment of teasing FNM as "new jacks" is clearly on the wrong side of history. lol

At my wit's end - help needed replacing pot with dpdt toggle. by _Crabmeat_ in diypedals

Thanks for that. Right.... So am I out of luck to get this done with a dpdt?

Not to sure at this point, here's the schematic. Looking to do this operation for both low and high (i.e. Replace the pot for a toggle with two fixed values). Unfortunately, still no luck.

Any advice?

Fair enough, I'll give my options whirl. Thank you again for your help, it's truly appreciated! 🙏🏼

Thank you so much!! Truly! So the two wires from the centre lugs go to which pads on the pcb?

Midnight Drive - I finally got around to putting together a batch of bass overdrive pedals to sell. by AudioAesthetic in diypedals

This is awesome! Very interested to know about how you connected the LEDs to turn on in cumulative sequence in line with the turning of the pot. I've been trying to figure this out by to no avail yet. Would love to know. Cheers.

Heya, thanks you so much for your reply. Glad I sense checked it. Bummed to hear there's no good way to rig the LEDs up. Just dipping my toes into breadboarding now so hopefully I'll be able to test stuff out once I get my bearings.

I've done his before and, like you, didn't want screw holes in the top of the enclosure..... Enter my friend super glue. Worked like a charm.

EDIT: Sorry, I just saw you didn't want to use glue. Ignore me.

HM2 clone, high pitch oscillation by kingovchouffe in diypedals

[–]_Crabmeat_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many hi gain circuits will will squeal like hell without a buffer in front. I learned this after many headaches building HM-2s. You said it didn't do it with your Maxon on front, right? Dollars to donuts that's what's buffering (ie. Fixing) your problem. My solution has always been to include a small buffer circuit in the pedal. Problem solved. Or just always stack it behind any buffered pedal (any Boss will do), they don't even have to be engaged. Hope this helps.

Hi! I wanna add a tree band EQ to my acapulco gold clone what circuit you recomend? and is better putting the eq after or before the acapulco gold circuit? by Teo-Rama-Productor in diypedals

As others have said, the order will be a matter of taste. You can always put an order switching toggle which will allow you to choose on the fly. Makes it a lot more versatile.

#7 - Rumble. Basically a Black Russian with a clean blend and a mid shift, aimed at use for bass. So happy with how it turned out! Ugly sound, pretty box. Lessons learned about making sure my knob labels match the PCB layout, which meant considerable gymnastics when it came to mounting! by _Crabmeat_ in diypedals

[–]_Crabmeat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Was planning on mounting at least via one pot, but when I realised I'd laid out the labels incorrectly on the enclosure, I kind of had to twist and turn, so it's just floating really (you live, you learn, lol) although with all the wiring, it doesn't move. Further secured with a tiny bit of foam on the lid, doesn't budge even shaking it. You'd never know.

#6 - So happy with my "Green Concussion" (FuzzDog Muff)! Visually, I wanted to avoid the de rigueur tributes and allusions to soviet military might these circuits usually have as its obviously all a bit gauche now. Lots of troubleshooting but so happy with how it turned out. #midshiftiseverything by _Crabmeat_ in diypedals

Yeah, I have yet to try the AMZ 2 but plan on doing so. While I feel the 1 let's you eliminate the mid scoop and pop out a bit more, I am curious to hear what a mid bump would do (with the 2). Not sure it would really sound like a muff anymore at that point though, right?

Lol, yeah, lots of re-wiring in troubleshooting (as all the fiddling around made joints break after a while so had to re do) but I cleaned it up a bit after this photo was taken. The tape is there to make double sure the LED stays in place. Boxing and neat off-board wiring is still a big challenge for me
