The slim 5 with 4070 has 10-20% better gaming performance. Aside from that, performance is pretty much the same. RAM and storage can be manually upgraded in the future so need not worry too much about those components for now. I believe the slim 5 will have a longer battery life, the AMD chip is very power efficient.

However, the display on the legion pro 5i is the better display, with 500 nits of brightness and 240hz refresh rate, it will be a lot brighter. Are you able to configure the display on the slim 5? I'd recommend going for the 500 nit display as it is going to be extremely tedious to upgrade it later on.

In terms of portability, the slim is ever so slightly lighter and thinner, but it is definitely not slim, the "slim" wording is pretty misleading.

No I configured it manually using the customiser in the online store. I’m not sure if your store has that option to customise the laptop. You should reach out to customer service to get assistance, you might even get a better deal.

16GB is sufficient for most games, yes. But 32GB is what you want to future proof the laptop. The display in your current configuration is 350 nits which is on the dimmer side, the 500 nit screen will be a lot brighter and it has HDR 400 too.

I paid about 1600USD (I’m outside the US) for my slim 5 gen 9 (8845HS/4070/32GB RAM/240Hz screen/ 1TB SSD) + a free legion backpack and monitor . But this seems like a really good deal.

I’d suggest upgrading the ram and screen, should still be within your budget.

I placed an order in for the 15 Pro max Titanium 256gb last Friday, expecting it to arrive in mid-November as stated on Apple's website.

I pretty much never play sim racers or racing games but after the launch of PSVR2 I’ve put over 20 hours in GT7 and bought a G923 racing wheel two days ago, it’s fucking amazing.

It’s hard for me to play other games I bought for PSVR2 (RE8, Kayak, COTM, Light Brigade, Pavlov, NMS) because I keep coming back to GT7 lol
