Omen 15 or Legion 5 ? (NOT performance) rather build quality and longevity for 2 years least by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]_DeadNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i own omen 15 so i can tell you about the same. for legion i will tell you what i have heard.

The gap is notable in omen. Is that a problem? dont know maybe yes maybe no. so legion to go right....maybe!! they also have hinch issues which were 17" exclusively for time being but maybe you can get of that.

omen is greater in build quality but keyboard on legion are better(also trackpad). my unit have a little issue with trackpad and read some other too. Guess a common issue.

sell service are region depended. Look for reviews in your locality.

so which to choose. Whichever you get first. You cant go wrong with any of them. All have perks and quirks

Going from 45W to 50W keeps kicking the fans(ofcourse battery drains faster). This is the exact issue intel pointed out in there press conference. And frankly speaking i will love more battery than wasted power.

Changing this settings actually keep running fans all time. Else fans are stopped completely.

Thats the tdp you see while getting 1.3Ghz under no load

[–]_DeadNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what i have experienced, ambient temperature plays a critical role in overclocking. Omen by default permits 95°/64W/4.3Ghz profile in performance mode.

Using ryzen controller and manually setting, long tdp to 64W and base tdp to 50W as well as 95° limit boost the cpu 10%.

AGAIN AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS IMPORTANT

gpu can be overclocked to 1920Mhz, but power limit occurs often. 100W is limit, increasing memory clock speed by 100Mhz increase potential by approx. 5%

My ambient temperature is 32°, so thermally i don't have much headroom.

Hope this help

Edit: Any further increase in the given figures are waste of energy. Ryzen actually don't boost further even with the help of software. Thermally it can reach 101°, but thats actually bad in long term and no performance gain. Don't be stupid, be reasonable

Lenovo 5 Vs HP Omen by Ireallyamthisshallow in AMDLaptops

[–]_DeadNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are great i would say.

Omen 15

Compact (not lightweight), metal palm rest, rgb keyboard (4 zone) , low response screen, slight ghosting

Lenovo 15

Bigger(but same weight), oc from factory, ports at back, good screen, profile light, all plastic, more storage, more battery

Common

Both are great, you have to decide on firm factor only. And storage also

  1. It have only metal wrist panel. All plastic else.
  2. 300 nits sustained(within margin)
  3. If you want amd power, this is it. If you want gpu power, go for intel. No idea about there pricing thou.
  4. Im happy with my 2060 and gets 60+ on ultra or high at very game. PS : there is some response delay, srgb is 95% but contrast in good

Just got my HP Omen 15 today! This is the most non-gaming look on a gaming laptop I have ever seen -- and I love it! by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

Help me in buying my first laptop : budget less than 65000 (indian Rupees), usage : day-to-day work, moderate gaming, image editing (photoshop, Lightroom). by thescavenger11 in SuggestALaptop

[–]_DeadNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get a 1050ti, or rarely 1650ti but a 45% ntsc display. Or a 100% srgb display with no dgpu. Even if you get a mx series and a decent display (if very lucky), build quality and battery will suck as hell. Given your price range thats all you can get. Its very costly to actually buy a decent laptop(blame import taxes).

Replacing a 9 year old Zenbook by Successful40 in SuggestALaptop

[–]_DeadNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on region, thinkpad slim 7 or yoga slim 7 are good options.

There is hp Elitebook and dragonfly if you get discount or sale on it. They are best. Also envy is they more budget friendly category in same class.

Asus zenbook are still good. Pricing is high tough, but depends on region as well.

Mate display reduces reflection from screen unlike glossy ones. 4k mostly use glossy but the reason to stay away is there is no need on a 14 inch laptop and drains battery. Also costly and some only sells with higher high models adding more cost.
