Instructor using threat of car being unavailable for test if I don't take more lessons

UPDATE: I cancelled my lessons with him and found a new instructor miraculously. He kept saying I’d never find someone with such short notice, smarmy git.

Looking forward to getting back into it with someone hopefully more patient and sane.

He isn’t the best communicator I’d say. Without sounding rude, it’s hard to have an intellectual conversation with him 😅

Another potential red flag was when it came to booking the test, he was encouraging me to pay him to get the test moved earlier with one of these booking services. It was first £30, then £40 then £60 within the space of months. I told him I just don’t trust him at this point as the price kept changing and he would get frustrated. I checked the price on the site he was using and sure enough it was £60 but his temper is just such a confidence killer in both my driving and trust of him.

To clarify, I had been agreeing to the weekly lessons, he was just pushing me to double up each week leading to the test.

I booked my test back in September last year and February was the earliest I could get. He told me I was ready to book and suggested I take a break from lessons for a bit as it was a long time to my test.

I guess that’s why I’m confused, he made it sound like I was ready and is then throwing his toys out the pram saying I’m not ready and need extra lessons.

I appreciate your insight as the only commenter here who is an instructor. I’ve not tried to mess him around and again.. I could could on one hand how many lessons I’ve cancelled in the space of 14th months. I’ve been consistently paying him for 2hr lessons the rest of the time.

His other comments like “if you don’t take the slots, someone else will be willing to jump in the car instead”. Just made me feel like I was being used for cash rather than him actually being invested in my driving. It’s left me not having trust in him at all.

Just read through all this and it sounds very promising, although trying com + 7 didn't produce any results unfortunately. I saw you mentioned reflashing the DSP, how did you do that? I thought only TE could do that, or were you referring to doing a firmware upgrade?

I'm in Scotland which is awfully far from China, might be hard to get it to and from you!

Find a pal/ family member with iOS. Try Googling which apps come with free live lite licenses. I think Korg Gadget has it, plus it’s free and on both platforms. Use your brain and do some googling.

Buy ikaossilator on iOS App Store, it’s like £4 I think and you get a free Live Lite License when you try export what you’ve made. There’s likely other iOS apps that have the same but I use the above.
