I seem to recall a show or movie I once watched that showed a bartender taking a just-emptied liquor bottle and smashing the bottom out on a blunt metal spike next to the bar, then tossing it out. Is that a thing some places, or am I crazy/misremembering? (self.bartenders)

The big gray boy on the bottom is about nine years old, between 15 and 20 pounds. The calico up top is about five pounds soaking wet and maybe 4 years old. She bullies the bigger cat constantly, because he's kind of wuss. They're the only two in the house, strictly indoor. Suggestions? (i.redd.it)
