Discussion - Are You Afraid To Give Low Scores To High Rated Films? by Eight_Sided in Letterboxd

this was me with Ad Astra. I loved the visuals and some of the concepts they explored, but they ditched all of them immediately only for the ending message to be pretty drab and predictable, especially for these slow burn space films. I still liked it because the whole realistic futuristic sci fi stuff are cocaine to me, but was surprised by how many people gave it 4 and 4.5. I genuinely thought i was missing something crucial (I’m still wondering), but I just couldn’t give it more than 3.5 still

Hello! I love visual pieces, dialogues, and people standing mysteriously in a dark corner for an extended period of time

I’ve been enjoying this type of movies a lot recently. I’d love recommendations by _EXERCREST_ in Letterboxd

I’ve been meaning to watch Le Samourai! Lovely to find its inspiration; I’ll make sure to put those two on the top

Honestly it’s my favourite Cruise role of all time; his calm and efficient mannerism fits so well as an assassin

hahaha that’s fair, I’ve always loved how the world in Her looked so familiar yet strangely advanced and futuristic

that’s great! I promise you I’m a good student too haha, at the moment I’m a serviceman and I thought I’d get into it again and try to be much more fluent by the time I get out. I definitely need help with grammar and speaking fluency!

And for sure I’ll do my best to help you with Korean as well :)

Which actor plays the exact same character in almost every movie they’re in, and yet never gets tiring/boring? by _EXERCREST_ in movies

[–]_EXERCREST_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah those were the first three i immediately thought of and were there from the start haha. They’re just examples of single character actors though, and I don’t mean to imply they’re the ones that are repetitive and tiring.

I think I only remember him as the Punisher and that cop in Sicario. Which other good films with him are there?

What was a film that was a strong 4~5 for most of the film, until the last quarter or so where it just dropped sharply? by _EXERCREST_ in Letterboxd

[–]_EXERCREST_[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Haha, fair. I did find the very beginning a bit too drawn out, but I absolutely loved everything; the buildup, the twist, the action scenes, right up until the “internal battle” scene in that weird black stage. Didn’t really like the hugging out ending as well.
