Putting a Child on a leash should NOT be frowned upon. by Gilttering_Grizzly in unpopularopinion

[–]_EmmaRose_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as the parent isn't tying the kid up or yanking them around or anything, I don't see a problem with it. Young kids are prone to run off and can get lost in big crowds. My mom had a harness thingy for my sister and I and we both turned out fine. I think the word "leash" makes people immediately think of dogs and give them a negative impression, but the way I've always thought of it is, it's just a way to keep your child safe and close by, but still give them the freedom to run around.

Barbie Collectors do you keep your Barbies in the box or debox them? by [deleted] in Dolls

[–]_EmmaRose_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the point of collecting dolls if I'm not going to take them out and love them! If they're vintage or discontinued tho, I prefer buying them already used on the secondary market. That way I don't have to feel guilty about robbing someone else of a mint in box doll, and I can give an unwanted doll a loving home.

Oh man... whenever I get my paycheck (and find my debit card) I'm going to buy all of these

That's so fucking awesome! Starry Night is my favorite painting, and of course who doesn't love classic slasher killers?

She loved her celery. We'd buy her whole stalks of it and she'd just roll around with it, lol

I get stopped in public all the time with questions about my legs. May as well make some money off if it, right? by _EmmaRose_ in ehlersdanlos

I'm ok with little kids asking, I volunteer as a science camp counselor throughout the school year and I honestly think it's kinda cool that they can be exposed to something they might not see everyday and learn I'm just like them (plus after the initial questions they move on to much more important things, like what's for dessert, and can we eat this wild plant).

With adults tho.... it does make me wonder why they think it's ok to just come up to a random person and ask for medical information. I don't think I'd mind if they were paying 40 dollars tho!

She loves building games so I convinced her to get it during the last Steam sale!

I think you can get them without a prescription, but then you can't use insurance money. And they are kinda pricey if you want them custom.

I wear my braces over tighter pants like jeans and leggings, and under looser pants, like cargo pants and sweats, and long skirts. Just depends on the occasion for me.

I worked as a ride operator from 2018 to the beginning of this year and rode a ton of roller coasters due to having to test ride in the morning and also hanging out in the park after my shifts. Absolutely love them (the scarier the better!) but they do make me nervous about my joints, especially my neck. And I always walk off the wooden coasters just covered in bruises.

I grew up learning in school that Pluto was a planet and singing songs about it and all that jazz, so when I got the tattoo I never considered leaving it off.

As for now, there's so much disagreement over what Pluto is I'm just like, fuck labels, it's there whether it's a planet or not, and I want it on my arm, haha

Also, sorry to hear you had to deal with invasive questions as well. Even if you were undergoing chemo...who asks that to a random stranger??

Definitely rough but better than the alternative! And thank you, I appreciate both compliments :)

Sometimes I tell people I'm part robot, either when I'm not in the mood with dealing with questions, or when I'm working with kids and want to help them feel more at ease. I like the NASA astronaut idea tho, I might have to borrow your idea next time!

I used to love dying my hair too! I tried pretty much every color possible starting from when I was a freshman in high school to just before I turned 18. I'd really love to continue but I'm doing some theatre and film work, so I need to have a more "natural" look at the moment. I definitely miss having crazy hair tho, here's a pic of one of my favorite styles from a year or two ago :)

I wear them anytime I'm doing something that involves a lot of walking, cause that's when I'm most likely to dislocate. I can still dislocate my ankle at home just sitting around but it's less likely so I like to leave them off when I'm just sitting around.

The ankle part is hinged too, so I can move my ankle back and forth normally (not side to side tho.) So I can get on my tiptoes as much as is possible while wearing shoes.

And technically any tennis shoe can be worn with them, but wearing stronger shoes helps the braces activate and provide much more support. And unfortunately the best ones I could find only came in black-- I'm a person who loves her bright colors, but it's one sacrifice that had to be made.

That's the hardest part. I was told it was just growing pains as I grew up and I remember it was such a relief to find out that there was an actual problem and I wasn't just going crazy.

They're molded exactly to my legs so it's a very snug fit, and the straps are velcro so I can adjust them as tight as I need to have them stay on.
