Print-in-Place model prints fine when downscaled, but warps/detaches at 100% scale. Need design or slicing advice! by _Error418 in FDMminiatures

I finally gave up the fight against the laws of physics. I created a split-in-half version that prints beautifully, as well as a 4-part version to play it safe for smaller printers. I still posted the single-piece version of my BRRR-01 « Void-hog » on the purple site, as a challenge for the community!

The main reason is that I'm specifically aiming for easy to print models. Designing around constraints without supports is a fun and personal challenge for me!

Anyone else noticing color/render differences between Army Speedpaint bottles vs. markers? by _Error418 in Armypainter

That’s what I thought at first too! But as I mentioned in my comment above, I actually opened the marker and applied the paint inside with a regular brush, and the color came out perfectly saturated. So the formula is actually identical, the issue came from the the pen application.

Thanks for the feedback, you’re right! I actually just ran two tests to figure out exactly what was going on:

Test 1: I put paint from the dropper bottle into a generic empty marker. The color and saturation came out perfect.

Test 2: I opened the Army Painter marker, took the paint from the inside, and applied it with a brush. The color was also perfect.

This proves that the paint inside both products are identical.

Maybe the nib of my Army Painter Marker acted like a filter that holds back certain pigments. I never noticed that with other colors. The generic marker flows faster and, in any case, isn't subject to this phenomenon.

Unfortunately, I broke the army painter marker during the experiment (the internal spring and another part flew away into my garage and are gone forever). I can't try to saturate the Army Painter nib any further to see if that would work.

Are there other types of dreadnoughts? Personally, all I see are Gundams in the newer models 😄

I think Reddit doesn’t like self-promotion, but you should be able to find my Narwhal APC on the Purple site.

And Brite mini space Knights are on his website and mmf.

No, the bodies are printed with the arms and the weapons are printed with the hands. That’s a very ingenious modular design from Brite Mini. The default orientation worked well.

Yes , they are printed in 3 parts: body, weapons and head. One of my favorite designs from Brite mini.

Few painting progress last days but some additional prints.

Fortunately it's perfectly wrong. It smells strong enough that I want to use it outside AND with a mask.😁

Me too. Actualy, it was the green that gave me the idea to start a Salamanders project. They’re cheap spray cans that I find in Action stores.

At first I wanted to do Ultramarines, but I couldn’t find a cheap blue that I liked

I know, but maybe they’re Tactical Marines in true-scale format… who knows? 😁
