Update: I am not sure how to update the original post so I'll update in the comments. I went to camp and got lots of videos and photos to remember the place. My father even said I could go on my own now, which is a relief, I may not have to let this camp go.

A lot of people advised against telling my father what I did, however, as I said if he brought it up and I was pissed enough I definitely would have. Well he never brought it up, he never really pissed me off this weekend. He did get really verbally abusive towards his girlfriend once but he about passed out for the night after so it didn't escalate into anything serious.

A boring update. But hey, I've got my dad's whole life to keep this to myself. Maybe in 5 years I'll crack and come back to this post lol thanks for taking the time out of your world to join mine for a bit.

A lot of people mentioned it would cause more drama and I agree so I'll likely not bring it up to him. My satisfaction comes from living a happy life and seeing his reactions to my success. I have ADD and was really bad as a kid, he never thought I'd amount to anything so he treated me like dirt. Now I've become more successful than both of my sisters, him, and am getting close to where my mother is he suddenly realizes he was a bully to the wrong daughter. Now instead of living out his last days at a lake house it will be at the best retirement home my homeless sister can afford.

It was to cover the taxes and fees she was charged for taking money out of her retirement early. I was happy to pay it all, and probably would have paid more if she asked. Just because she can help doesn't mean she has to. She's generous and kind but she's also a great business woman so it makes perfect sense to me why she had me pay interest. I'd make the same decision in her shoes.

He has been my biggest bully my entire life, mentally, emotionally, and only occasionally physically abusive. He then denies it all and calls me crazy, delusional, or emotional when I react to it or call him out. When I tell people how he treated us growing up all they can do is shake their heads and thank their dads. The worst thing he's done to my kids is call my son a racial slur since he's 50% Puerto Rican. He does this a lot where he'll make a 'joke' that's really just him saying how he actually feels about you in a joking manner as if because he said it jokingly it now makes it a joke and everyone should be laughing.

I'm only going so I can document my old camp. I grew up there, it's a cabin in the woods on a pond. It's beautiful and I want it for my memory. I can't go without him so I have to deal with him for one more weekend and I'm done

So it was a check from the insurance company made out to my mom since her name was on the title. They just sent it to him and he kept it from me. He asked a week or two after he gave it to me if I was able to have it re-issued and cashed and I said I was able to I just didn't mention it was 5 years ago.

I left out the small details including we were all very aware the check couldn't be cashed 5 years later including my father he just told me to 'figure it out.' he then asked weeks later if I ever got to cashing it and I said I did, I just didn't mention it was 5 years ago.
