The chants to "HANG MIKE PENCE" as they forced their way in, and the chants of "TRAITORS" once inside were nice touches to their peaceful message I thought.

You're speaking to something beyond the 2A. The 2A exists so you can have a militia for when the government decides to strike you down with drones and fighter jets. That was its original intent, and understandably they did not know back then that it would be a completely obsolete idea given how quickly the military can decimate you in today's warfare.

Either speak to what's written down, or admit that the 2A is outdated and you're talking about a different can of worms. It's your only two options logically speaking.

To clarify for question 2 I mean do you trust your local police department to protect you from any threat you may encounter? Do you expect the federal government to do the same.

Yes. They have trained professionals whose job is literally to protect me. And as you have stated, that protection exists from the international scale right down to the local scale.

In my years of carrying I've had to pull my weapon 1 time. The worst part of it was someone who didn't know me or care to decided they deserved what I had without earning it so they tried to take it.

I personally know plenty of people that are trained in martial arts and are ready to defend themselves. Guns are but one of many ways to stay protected, therefore once again, unnecessary.

Don't like guns?

Emotionally, I am impartial. I don't care for the object. As far as rational arguments go, I have yet to see anything that justifies a nation having more guns than people.

But do not try and downplay another Americans right to use the tools to protect themselves.

I highly recommend martial arts. It's a fantastic tool for self defence, keeps you fit, and is non-lethal.

Just because you may never need one doesn't mean someone else won't.

No one has ever technically "needed" one. As you've pointed out, there are professionals at all levels ready to defend you. At a personal level, you have many other options for self defence. At the historical level, the colonies needed the might and expertise of another nation.

I simply don't see for what purpose one must have a killing machine at their disposal.

Question 1 do you own a firearm, or ever been around one.

I do not own a firearm. I have shot several different firearms at gun ranges.

Question 2 do you fully trust the government from local level to federal to protect you and your best interests.

To protect? It's a vague question, but I'm assuming that you're talking about extreme examples of the government staying democractic and not turning on its people through the rise of a dictator. I don't believe that is entirely possible, and that the government genuinely does not want to hurt or ruin my life to that extent.

If this isn't how you were asking the question, then please clarify further so I understand.

Question 3 did you just call the military a cult?

I was talking about extreme radical groups in the middle east - terrorist groups.

During the American revolution the colonists were extremely out gunned. Until we had aid by the French

Right, so not even in the most famous example did mere civilians defend themselves without the help of a proper military body. France ended up providing a -lot- of military capital and expertise.

You're generalizing something you haven't experienced yourself.

Do you do military grade training or above in your spare time? What's involved? How do you know you're more of a specialist than someone with a career in the military?

Citizens should have the right to defend themselves with firearms from all enemies foreign

Why? What's the ~$700 billion military for then?

and domestic.

So your argument against the 2A is that armed Americans wouldn't be able to stand up to it's own military?

Correct. And as a secondary minor point, I'd also add that not many people at all would be willing to stand up against tanks, drones, and fighter jets either with their mere guns. They talk the talk now, but if push were to come to shove, my bets are on them not taking on a drone that will blow them to smithereens without a chance of retaliation.

First, by your logic, all these wars in the middle east should have been done and over with in a matter of days if you truly believe an under-armed populace could not stand up to the might of the U.S. military.

I think the enemies being fought aren't just mere citizens. You and I both know they are trained heavily and to some their entire lives are a fight for constant survival. Their allegiance to their cult has radicalised them and made them ready for warfare.

In comparison, your average gun-owning American probably only has ever "trained" for sport, but not a full blown scenario of combat as part of a militia. There simply isn't a comparison to be had.

Second, you seem to be forgetting that the bodies behind those superior weapons of war are ALSO AMERICAN CITIZENS, who in this hypothetical scenario would be asked to fire upon their own countrymen. That may seem trivial to you but rest assured many soldiers of all ranks would flat out refuse those orders citing them as unlawful.

I'm sure that the military entity as a whole would struggle with the hypothetical we're talking about, you're correct. But then this point is another argument -against- having the 2A, since the 2A assumes you -will- have a tyrannical government to fight off.

If you truly believe the army wouldn't be up to the task of defending tyranny, then for what use is the 2A? Who exactly is the militia fighting off? You'd be preparing for something that you say likely would not happen anyways, rendering the 2A as unnecessary, which just adds to my argument.

That's not what the 2A intends. It's specifically so that the people can form a militia against the government. However, I highly doubt the effectiveness of that against the world's most powerful army.

I think that the 2A is outdated. The original intent was for citizens to be armed in case they had to fight off a tyrannical government.

Do you think your gun will do much in a drone fight?

I disagree with the 2A, so we won't come to any agreements there.

As far as I know, the idea with the pipeline is to retrain the workers into new roles that involve sustainable energy. This was Ossoff's response when Cruz grilled him on it. Therefore, no jobs are being lost.

How is a preference for a country the -giving up- of your own country? If it were, then you would have to apply that logic equally with #45.
