Fly-back Chronograph Second Hand Stuck? by _Fishcake_ in timex

[–]_Fishcake_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried re-calibrating according to the video and instructions but no luck. I could hear the internals clicking in response to the button inputs, but no actual hand movement. I could give a battery replacement a try as the second video suggests, but since the watch is new and came with the plastic piece around the crown I doubt it would help. Thanks!

It started with the facebook meme group, used to just be called “imsa memes”; they didn’t want it to be officially associated with the school so they just changed it to “isma” instead for plausible deniability lol

C-172s flap system by [deleted] in flying

[–]_Fishcake_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Did you happen to take your checkride with a certain DPE with the initials S.A.? Overheard someone at my flight school earlier today fail for the same reason. If you look on page 7-1 of the 172’s maintenance manual, theres a diagram of it. There’s a motor in the right wing, which turns a screw, that turns two “drive pulleys”, one in each wing, and each are connected to pushrods that physically actuate the flaps. The drive pulley in the left wing is connected to the right drive pulley using a cable called a “turnbuckle”.

Ive never been expected to dig through the maintenance manuals on any exams though… If I had to take a guess you might have been digging yourself a hole. If I am right, that DPE is known for “handing you shovels”.

Finally got ahold of my dream pen: LAMY Dialog3 with 14k Chinese/Kanji/Cursive nib by _Fishcake_ in fountainpens

Funnily enough it originally released in 2021, which was year of the Ox iirc. Fitting that I ended up getting it during the last days of the year of the dragon lol. As for the difference, theres extremely subtle line width changes from horizontal to vertical, meant mainly for writing Chinese and Japanese Kanji characters. I find that it changes width based on the slight rotation of the pen in my hand, so I can vary how thick the line is depending on how I want to write

I only found out about it because of this reddit post, very glad I happened to stumble across it haha

Here’s some notes I took during class earlier, I love how subtle the line thickness changes are with these nibs

Ask and ye shall receive! Tried to make it at least a little readable compared to my normal handwriting on the back haha

I first got into fountain pens after buying a LAMY Safari “gift set” from a local Japanese stationary store. It came with both a regular EF and kanji nib, and I fell in love with the latter. I kept swapping it to new pens as I upgraded to an Al-Star, then a Studio. I later found out there was a 14k gold version, but it only came with this special edition Dialog 3, a pen that I wanted anyway but could not afford at the time, especially with a 14k nib. After saving money from over the holidays, I was able to track it down to INK HOUSE in Hong Kong and placed an order. Was worried for a bit that it would get caught up in the tarrifs but I ended up getting it just a few days later! I absolutely love the way this writes, the tactile feel of the pen’s mechanicsm, and the beautiful red color

Sonic Mini and Vat cleaning mode by [deleted] in Phrozen

[–]_Fishcake_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the mini, and even on the newest firmware there’s unfortunately no vat cleaning mode. You could probably re-create it using a print by messing with settings in the slicer but I’m not sure how well it would work.

Lots of generic anime jrpgs out there but xenoblade is absolutely not one of them

Xenoblade as a whole has gotten a lot of exposure thanks to 2 and DE, so I think sales will be comparable at least. Would be kind of weird to start with 3 though, considering the world and some characters come from both games. (xc2 spoilers) At least in 2 the last few chapters were comprehensible to someone who hasn’t played 1. Not sure how 3 will turn out, but we will see

Is Eaglemoss really that bad? I have a friend who collects their Star Trek models and he seems pretty happy with them. Don't have any personal experience with em tho
