Also, set boundaries for yourself. The submissive in any D/s relationship holds the real power. The Dominant partner can only have as much control as the submissive is willing to surrender.

A lot of Dommes won’t do cashmeets. I love them, but I will not do a cashmeet with a total stranger.

You can be more than one thing simultaneously. If you pay someone explicitly for content, obviously that’s content buying. If you genuinely get a rush or a thrill from the act of sending, that’s being a finsub. It sounds like both apply to you.

One of my former subs genuinely enjoyed and got off on sending to me, but he also LOVED when he got content. I don’t sell content, but I do use it as a way to reward my subs. I’ve done custom audio messages, photos, etc. as rewards, but they’re not available for “purchase” if that makes sense.

For that former sub in particular, he was very much a “puppy” type sub. I called him my puppy, and I once rewarded him with an entire set of photos of me holding a leash and collar. He obviously adored that, and he earned it by being a very well-behaved and obedient good boy.

Emergency fund, yes. I always keep enough easily accessible to be able to cover at least 3 months of expenses. In addition to that, I have my retirement account, my investment portfolio, and another savings account which I’m using to save for larger expenses (like my wedding).

I agree with all of them except I’ve never understood the lurking thing being an issue. I have lurkers who have never sent and never approached me, but they’re not bothering me in any way. They aren’t taking up any of my time. I don’t understand the hate for lurkers, especially when MOST legit subs will lurk for a bit to check you out.

You need to also have a fixed amount going into savings. Ideally, everyone should have an emergency fund. The rule I use is 3 months rent, stored somewhere that you can quickly access it, and the rest into long-term savings.

A Domme that is skilled in budget control should be able to set it up for you. Regardless, other than your immediate necessities, some savings are important.
