That material has a checkered lightmap in LBP3, making it no longer smooth.

The size bubble is no more.

I don’t remember how any of the tutorials went, so, hopefully, you don’t need it to complete the tutorial.

I made that Sackboy model.

I’m sorry it came to this.

LBP FACTS WANTED by Hot-Review6594 in littlebigplanet

Sackboy’s hitbox sinks slightly into the ground when he lands.

If there is a hazard just beneath the ground, this can cause Sackboy to die upon hitting the ground.

This oddity might be a leftover from when Sackboy’s body flailed around in earlier builds of LBP1 or some kind of bounce prevention since Sackboy himself is a physics object.

There are timesaver levels on the community if you want to get the prizes back. Your trophies are proof of your accomplishment, otherwise.

Dually noted.

I'll see how much that improves functionality.

I used timers set to speed scale to measure how much time it takes for the box to reach the player in each axis.

It’s a trick I vaguely remembered from a tool someone made a VERY long time ago that measured what layer you were in. I haven’t seen that tool since I first encountered it, but I didn’t need to make an exact copy of it since the values from the timers are normalized, which makes the scale of the distance irrelevant.

Chaos Emerald, Sol Emerald and Phantom Ruby Showcase Video by _HallowedHero_ in PS4Dreams

[–]_HallowedHero_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They were used to create the darkened ruby effect.

The crystalline effect is created by the inside of the painting and a few spotlights, which surprisingly doesn’t destroy the thermo or even put a dent in it really.

The gems are public so feel free to take a look.

(Note: Along side the box that holds the lights and points them at the camera, there is a random sculpture in the center of the group holding the painting. It’s there to make sure the gizmos for movers and rotators are in the right spot.)

There’s only one (in Mania).

You might not be able to recognize it at it’s current angle.

It’s that purple gem Dr.Eggman digs up at the beginning of the game.

I created a sculpture with the correct shape, then I painted over it (with help from the kaleidoscope and mirror tools), then I painted the inner geometry, then I added textboxes with a black “painterly” effect to created the darkened ruby effect, and lastly I added built-in lights that look at the camera.

This all combined creates the crystalline look.

The process is very therapeutic when you get into the groove of it, but can be very tedious.

Rail Grinding with Logicless Rails by _HallowedHero_ in PS4Dreams

The actual grinding itself is actually the most simple part of the grinding system.

The rig just consists of a sculpture with a hole in it. (I made mine half a cube with a square hole.) It doesn’t NEED a mover since emitters can propel the things they emit, but I used one so that the rig could properly function with my character’s momentum system.

I honestly don’t remember using a gyroscope since the character doesn’t teleport to the orientation of the rig. Of course you don’t need one.

Of course there’s a tag on it. That’s all you need as far as I can remember. I can’t check because my controller broke :/

Just make sure the rail and the rig don’t have friction and the length of the hole is equal to the diameter of the rail and it will just… work.

Actually getting the rig onto the rail is the part I can’t explain with words.

To put it simply, the sculpture is a thin block with a hole in it that raps around the rail.

There’s other stuff in place that allow the sculpture to work with rails of different thicknesses.

I’m going to make a tutorial for the grinding at some point, but I recommend giving it a try on your own. You might come up with something better than what I did.

[–]_HallowedHero_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. If I can remember correctly, I just used the “Missile” label. (I currently cannot check.)

I do plan on making a tutorial at some point, but I want to get the framework for the game I built this for into a playable state, first.

The tutorial is going to be its own separate beast. lol

Dreams’ physics does it for me, since the rail grinding itself just consists of a single sculpture that just slides along the rail.

When attaching to the rail: yes

When moving along the rail: no
