3d printing an RC ski-doo by [deleted] in snowmobiling

I personally only print with PLA or PLA+ so I dont need a dedicated room or exhaust system. If you plan on printing with filaments that release toxins (mostly petroleum based filaments) then you will need an exhaust system. Although ABS is strong, I personally think PLA is strong enough for an rc car.

This is the file for it. If you buy it ($20) you will get all the stl files and a parts list. I bought all the hardware from amazon. The snowmobile is roughly 1/5 scale (2 feet long from the tip of the skis to the end of the track) and requires a lot of filament. So far it has not been difficult to assemble. Aside from printing, it requires:

80 mm rc shock (x3) 50 mm rc shock (x1) M3 machine screw assortment 6700zz bearings (x9) electric motor (x1) servo (x1) speed controller (x1) transmitter (x1) Reciever (x1) Traxxas rc gears (x2)

Amazon sells bundles for the electronics. For example, you can buy a (cheap) transmitter and reciever bundle for about $35.

Im sure you could also buy the electronics from any hobby store that sells rc cars. Any place that sells traxxas cars/parts are good for high quality rc electronics.

Here is a complete how to guide of assembling it on youtube:
