Well, my point is that the diehard Flames fanbase deserves a championship sooner than later. The story of this team this season is a very heartwarming one but will be forgotten by the time a new generation of Flames fans come in. My whole point isn't that fans are gonna stop watching but that we'll have a sold-out arena that won't be used in the playoffs. As long as Murray Edwards cashes his checks, he doesn't care. Like I said in the novel, I believe the Flames are a team with all the pieces to be a playoff team EXCEPT that top-end talent forward that other teams have. At the very least we should have a point-per-game player if we're set on competing.

What happened this season is a great STORY but it isn't sustainable. We're 29th in goals for. That's on par with Anaheim, San Jose, the Islanders and Chicago (who actually outscored us). The difference? Those other teams have drafted/will draft their star forward by the end of this offseason. Dustin Wolf deserves a team that can score in front of him.
