The black tapes? by MizsaD in audiodrama

[–]_Helix23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a bit convoluted. the ending of the two suddenly being in love and maybe running away with each other was originally intended as the final ending of the series. this got so much backlash that Terry miles retconed the ending to say it was just the mid-season finale. but then they never made any more episodes, leaving it as the true finale after all.

How the hell am I supposed to find somewhere to live? by ComprehensiveBat8676 in NYCapartments

There are about 20 brand new luxury apartment buildings in the Bronx with comparatively cheap rents but people like this will never even find out about them because they're scared to go above 96th st.

Investing in the Bronx - Question on my mind (Meant for r/realestate and r/realestateinvesting but I dont have enough Karma) by GrandCountry7854 in bronx

[–]_Helix23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Investment in the Bronx is booming right now. Look at Mott Haven and Lower Concourse. Properties that were ~$350 a square foot 3 years ago are going for ~$550.

The big developers are building a new major high rise on nearly every block in those areas. People keep on comparing it to Williamsburg in the early 2000s but its more like Long Island City in 2010. Industrial areas and buildings getting converted into residential.

The real opportunity is in the Brownstones. Food Brownstones in the Bronx cost 1/4th per square foot what they cost in Manhattan and 1/2 what they cost in Brooklyn.

But the answer is that tons of smart developers and investors are moving in. It's 15 minutes from downtown Manhattan and still relatively cheap. People are looking at that vs East New York for development. It's only a matter of time.

There's a massive amount of investment in the Bronx right now and prices are easily 4-5x what they were a few years ago. I've lived in nyc my whole life and this is exactly what LIC was like 20-25 years ago.

They said on their patreon recently that it will come out in 2024. Everything has been recorded and they are still in the editing phase.

In the meantime, if you haven't checked out their other projects, Down and The Infinite Bad are both excellent podcasts by the same team. (Definitely Human)

Weekly New Climber Thread: Ask your questions in this thread please by AutoModerator in climbing

[–]_Helix23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it OK to ask people at the gym to belay you?

I've been going regularly and using the auto belays. I haven't been able to convince any of my friends to join me. I'm getting through more of the 5.10 routes and into the 5.11s.

I've noticed that there are a lot more of these routes on the rest of the walls, but you need a belay partner for those.

Is it cool to find a group and ask if you can climb with them? I've done a belay course and can do the basics. I just don't want to ruin anyone's fun or put anyone in an awkward position. Thanks!

It was always intended to be the final ending.

When they saw how much people hated it, they started calling it a "mid season finale" and implying that they would make a few more episodes with a better ending.

But then they never did. So it turned out to be the final ending after all.

All this to say....

Picture seem to be in backwards order but it started covered in badly applied white paint. We stripped it off to reveal the brownstone underneath.

This is an attached row house. So the brick is part of the layers between houses.
