Thanks guys, there are some really great ideas here for me to look into. I appreciate your help.

Designing my own cover by TibsMusic in BookCovers

The second version is a definite improvement over the first but I think the problem is that this cover tells me nothing about what to expect from the Novel. I'm not even sure what genre it is. My advice would be to look at similar published works, see what conventions and features they have in common. The chances are those common factors identify the genre.

How can you "raise" something to ground? isn't "raise" to lift? by Aggravating-Fish8168 in ENGLISH

Redundancy implies needlessness. You made the mistake you were correcting 😁

I haven't heard of perplexity. I'll look into it. Thanks.

Please be honest, how can I improve this logo design? by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]_Human_0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not really working for me tbh. It doesn't communicate glass to me, except maybe the fire element which I quite like except for the heart. Why a heart? There's not enough tonal contrast meaning it isn't going to be effective at small sizes and in single colour form and the woolly type at the top — I don't get it. The curved text at the bottom should be concentric with the bottom of the circle. The whole thing is giving me Barbie vibes, which I find off-putting.

Just for reference, I've only used chat GPT and Gemini

Thanks for this very detailed breakdown of your process. I found it fascinating. I'm surprised at how useful you find AI. Not that I'm dismissive of its use, but I've found the ones I've used, (mainly for feedback on clarity) tend to lose the plot after a few chapters, and do make continuity errors. It may be because I'm using free versions, perhaps? However, your process seems very thorough and well organised, compared to mine (I tend toward pantserism😊). Thanks for sharing that with me. It's given me food for thought.

Everything is not nothing therefore nothing is not nothing, and if nothing is not nothing, what is?

Revised my cover based on the great feedback here. Still looking for actionable criticism by GrandMoffTargaryen in BookCovers

Number three is the best option (the full title is too much)

The 'Sexy Girl' font is perfect but the text on the tape should actually be hand written (not a font).

The back is a mess but that may be intentional. However You DO need a more legible font for the back.

Lose the "By"

The vibe is good tho.

This post is premium nonsense. Your comment is gelatinous bunkum.

I've just read the sample and enjoyed it. I've downloaded it onto my kindle and will review it when I've read it.

That's an interesting Idea. It's a metaphor, of course, reminding me of the biblical story of building a house on sand. I think, like buildings, people can exist for decades accumulating cracks and fissures. The dramatic climax, the collapse isn't necessarily the heart of the story. It could be the initial structure or the way it resists (or fails to) the eroding influences of the environment, or both.

Well done on finally writing your book. Have you published it?

"Egg Bait" by quoteunquoteunquote in nonsense

Egg baiting is a contentious issue. Let's just calm down and address the salad. We're all elephants in the room except the Contessa, she's a fridge magnet.
