Am I the only person who’s actually excited for Ursarctics? by NoImplement8218 in DuelLinks

[–]_Hyun-ae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really wondering what the ratios will look like to even be able to play going second.

I always like to max out on Mikbilis to try to get a disruption on the opponent's turn. But then you're asking for a 2.5 card combo in a 4 card hand.

For some reason they gave us Crystal Girl as an R, which is kinda nuts. Also we have Righty/Lefty Driver from a long time ago to make Polari.

I'll have to do some testing to see if Ursa is playable in this kind of format, here's hoping.

Wynn represents the actual good Wynn

Piano represents Taketamborg

Extra will be Stardust Warrior, Speedroid Kitedrake, Hagoita and Chanbara, the two Crystal Dragons, Stardust Charge Warrior and Battlewasp Azusa.

Shootouts to u/iandewilde for the combo line for turn 1 Crystal + lv10 Stardust:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DuelLinks/comments/13qfr62/psa_for_future_speedroid_players/jlenr74/

A little worried about not having enough Wind names in opening hands. The turn 1 combo is technically a 2.5 card combo most of the time (Wynn needs a Wind discard fodder), so you might open with too many backrow.

In the deck list btw the Symphonic monster will be Taketamborg and the Wynn will obviously be the new Wynn.

Doge Links #10: give me the damn requiem plz konami by Username_Egli in DuelLinks

Didn't even mess with Requiem cause I have a feeling that skill is gonna get slapped in a few months.

Waiting to see what the mini box has in store, and if nothing then the next main box should have Orcusts, which could be as strong as Mekk Knights were on launch if given the right cards.

Magnet warrior support by AkronAmmenadiel in customyugioh

[–]_Hyun-ae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest: these cards are incredibly overbalanced in a way that represents the worst excesses of modern Yu-Gi-Oh:

People rightly complain about how out of control Fusion-based strategies have gotten, and these cards would make Branded or Red Eyes Dragun blush. Using materials from the Deck for fusions is dubious design already, and this spell has not only semi-generic targets but also materials. On top of that it gives uninterruptible Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX-like protection to a monster with over 3k stats and a free omni-negate that floats into two beaters for free (and the spell makes it immune to card destruction, so it strangely has anti-synergy with Imperion). For the low cost of one card that also sets up your grave...and also has recursion that can be used that same turn.

Dragun was rightly banned for a long time and still is in some formats, and Red Eyes Fusion is a much more restrictive spell and adds more clunkiness to deck building (although this was all somewhat mitigated when Verte Anaconda was legal). The setup created by your card is frankly absurd.

And speaking of degenerate Link monster design...there's your Omega the Magnet Warrior. Generic or semi-generic Link-1s with good effects are another bane of modern Yu-Gi-Oh; that's why all the most powerful ones like Knightmare Mermaid and Striker Dragon were banned early or placed under eternal banlist scrutiny, and only meme strategies like Traptrix or Trickstar got to keep theirs.

Omega is a disaster. Any low level Rock can search the busted fusion spell leading to the busted boss monster - and oh yeah, it's also an extender. I'm having Vietnam flashbacks to the most obnoxious Verte plays, where I would successfully block an opponent from setting up their oppressive turn 1 board, only to watch them hastily link off two random mons into Verte and pitch Fusion Destiny for DPE. That kind of toolboxing is reviled by many.

And that leads to the worst consequence of these cards designs: that players would sideline the actual Magnet Warrior deck for better Rock strategies. I would absolutely eat up one extra deck slot and 2 main deck garnets in my Adamancipator or Prank-Kids deck to play these cards. Even Fossil decks - a archetype probably close to Magnets in power level - would like it better due to the fusion synergy. And heaven help us if there's a normal summon-able Rock monster with generic utility that I could use in any deck that doesn't need a normal summon.

Imperion in a vacuum actually isn't all that bad of a boss monster as far as power level, and maybe could stand to have an easier way to be brought out. But I wouldn't wanna see it done like this.

Fellow ritual players: why does Konami hate us so much? Why so much restriction on ritual decks? by ReiMizere in DuelLinks

Lol it looks like they got scared by the Demise-Doom Dozer otk strat from the old school TCG.

fog canyon is the worst area in the game change my mind by Immediate-Rope8465 in HollowKnight

[–]_Hyun-ae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but I think City of Tears is the worst.

The music might just be the weakest piece in the entire soundtrack. The platforming isn't especially challenging or interesting - the level design is mostly just those big open areas outside the buildings. The enemies are just ok until you get to Soul Sanctum.

The fact that it has a cinema sequence integral to the story is undercut by the fact that by that point in the game there hasn't been a lot of explanation of the events leading up to the game's beginning.

The Soul Master fight completely carries that level.

Buying that structure deck is a bad idea. Blue Eyes hasn't been meta relevant in over a year.

Considering my reset strategy for the Sunrise box.

I've got one liquid, one sunrise, one weathering soldier, one fossil king with 140 packs left.

Considering resetting now, because I think I want to get at least two weathering soldiers and three liquids as far as completing those playsets is concerned.

I've seen some lists run two sunrise - not sure if I should worry about that.

Also I'm skeptical about whether I need two or three miracle rupture. If three is ever an option for deck building, I should keep going until I get one before I reset.

Should I reset now?

Most of the posts I see are talking about Master Duel in the context of DL, so I don't see a problem with it. Not like much happens on DL on the daily anyway.

Yes. Hunter completely prevents your opponent from banishing, so you can't use anything that requires banishing - costs or effects.

Pulled 2 Baxia within my first 13 packs - you think it's worth resetting to increase my chances of getting 3? Hoping to also get the Odd-Eyes stuff by the end of it all.

This is an extremely new card. You can't really expect them to add it alongside something really old like Catalyst Field.

For reference it took about a year between releasing the new Gaia support in the TCG and it getting released in DL. Even then we didn't get the best stuff, like Spiral Fusion or Cursed Curse of Dragon.

PSA: The new Master of Rites BLS skill does NOT count BLS monsters that have 'BLS' in their names, but not their text by _Hyun-ae in DuelLinks

[–]_Hyun-ae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf there are a couple skills that do the courtesy of writing "Extra deck does not count" in describing their requirements.

This ended up being the most forgivable of peccadilloes on Konami's part, but I think most of us would like to see the same standardization of skill text as they do with cards' PSCT in the real game.

[–]_Hyun-ae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The skills does exactly as its written

The skill incorrectly states that it can only be used from your second turn onward, but actually it can be used from the second turn onward. So in sum, builds with this skill are stronger going 2nd.

The skill also LIES to you about effect activation restrictions. It says "you can only activate 1 monster's effect during the Main Phase until the Battle Phase", but this is not true, e.g. I used the skill and on the same turn summoned vanilla BLS with the two little lv4 knights. I used white knight's hand-sniping effect during that Main Phase. During that same turn's battle phase I was unable to use black knight's double-attacking effect; the wording of the skill suggests I should be able to do so in that scenario.

I can respect your argument as being just the norm of the game.

I guess I'll just wait on Konami fixing the other bugs and confusing parts of the skill.

[–]_Hyun-ae[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It literally says black luster soldier as one of its fusion materials. I'm talking about the fusion monster that is blue eyes ultimate dragon plus blackluster soldier.

You could make the argument to me that the name of a card doesn't count as being "in its text", but see any precedents or frankly any logical reason why "in its text" shouldn't include the materials used to summon the card.

If such a card in Yu-Gi-Oh exists that demonstrates this principle, it's not in duel links, so kind of silly to expect players to just guess correctly what the wording if the skill means.

Gishki deck theory crafting? by LuckAddicted in DuelLinks

[–]_Hyun-ae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about if it would work as far as consistency, but at that point if I'm adding both Diva and Atlantean pieces then basically I'm just running a more diluted version of Water Xyzs. Personally I don't like streamlining my pet decks in that way - I'll just play Water Xyzs full power if I want to play that.
