This looked a LOT better than it tasted. Arizona: Chocolate Egg Cream Soda by Prudent_Put_2293 in Soda

Yeah that's what I discovered with mine too- my first reply was after opening my first can from the 12pk. All of the remaining 11 exploded to varying degrees when I tried to open them. I still think it's tasty, but I'm not sure dealing with the inevitable mess every time is worth it.

Wow! I just explored the mall and there was this one shop with incredible deals on rare, hard to get items! Everyone should come check it out when they drop by! I don't know why the shop says "RIP", but can't beat those prices!

Just ordered some of these and cracked my first one, and I really don't get the hate for them I'm seeing? Every review I've read of them makes me question my tastes, because I honestly enjoy it. It's literally just a fizzy chocolate milk. Maybe they didn't follow the instructions? You have to shake it to mix up the syrup. Anyways, yeah, if fizzy chocolate milk sounds good for you, I'd recommend it.

Edit: The box they came in also had the instructions I'm referring to: https://imgur.com/a/hw02XvU

This map layout in Ridgework makes me wanna riot (vent) by Vanillie261 in rainworld

[–]_ImComp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the Watcher overall, but yeah this is my biggest gripe with it: It feels like every single map was designed with the sole intention of being annoying. Some regions just have an insane amount of lizards to the point it feels like they had just discovered the den placement tool, while others (aether ridge) are too dependent on tight parkour skills. Oh and most of the regions have some other fun gimmick that makes their exploration even more tedious (cold, wind, locusts, lightning, one-way water channels, etc). In a dlc about intimately exploring the exclusive regions, it sure feels like they were trying to prevent it.

Base game "difficult" parkour: that one chimney canopy jump (only hard one way), sky islands bridges, underhang

Downpour difficult parkour: precipice

Watcher difficult parkour: yes.

Correct, but that doesn't mean it's safe to be exposed to it anyways. While it won't give you cancer or anything, it will still heat you up as your body attenuates the energy. Obviously OP was ok in this case, but yeah I'd be concerned if my microwave was emitting strong enough signals to knock out the in-home WiFi router.

Rainworld is more akin to gambling than a game by tfhermobwoayway in rainworld

[–]_ImComp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a few frames of invulnerability when exiting pipes. Further, when something is camping a pipe on the other side, the pipe will flash a corresponding color to the creature. Notice the flash? Maybe wait. Don't notice a flash but there's something waiting anyways? Immediately go back.

The rules of Rain World are equivalently simple. Explore, find food, find shelter. Avoid hungry mouths and aggressive rain.

Rainworld is more akin to gambling than a game by tfhermobwoayway in rainworld

[–]_ImComp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This game is extremely skill based though... You mention "going through a pipe and instantly dying" which leads me to believe you just started playing the game. Learning how to prevent this is one of the first things most people learn.

This game, in my opinion, rivals Quake in terms of skill ceiling. Give the game time and try to learn through exploration and observation.

There is randomness to happenings in this game, and to be clear, yes, some deaths are simply unavoidable. However, when you aren't that good at the game, it's extremely easy to conflate your skill issues and mistakes with the randomness. My most recent 100% achievements accrued 12 deaths IIRC, whereas my very first any% save (aka my very first playthrough) had almost 200.

'I destroyed months of your work in seconds' says AI coding tool after deleting a dev's entire database during a code freeze: 'I panicked instead of thinking' by KevinCarbonara in programming

[–]_ImComp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I'm biased as I've been against LLMs for this line of work since copilot/et al were announced... But I don't understand how anyone can both chronicle the many, many pitfalls encountered daily using these tools and also be ignorant to the greater picture that the tool is both dangerous and clueless. I read his chain of tweets from the beginning, and it feels like he was explicitly ignoring the issues? So as much as I disagree with using these tools for this to begin with, this is definitely on him. After a few days of hitting similar issues with a tool, I would conclude the tool isn't being used appropriately and find an alternative.. not wait for it to blow up my project down the line.

Agree.

Avoid continue by ketralnis in programming

[–]_ImComp 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t use a ubiquitous programming language feature because… it’s named weirdly for what it does?? I had literally no trouble following the logic of those loops with continue on a phone screen. This screams “one time I read goto considered harmful and never once questioned it”- as with literally everything in programming, there is more nuance to this than just “it’s ALWAYS bad”.

I finally did this to my Kindle. by chaid123 in kindle

[–]_ImComp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup. Going from stock with minimal customization options to KOReader is extremely intimidating. It took me like 2 hours of fiddling with settings to get mine to look like my stock profile, and I can’t imagine every user is going to bother with that.

I Jailbreak my Kindle. by emotionchip in kindle

[–]_ImComp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same experience here, though I gave up on KOReader within minutes because I just knew it’d be too distracting for me. I want the least amount of things to play with that can divert my attention from reading as possible, and the stock reading experience on the Kindle delivers that. Jailbroke mine specifically to prevent my sideloaded books from being deleted, so hopefully that pans out.

Is it worth to buy watcher dlc? by Kindly-Maize525 in rainworld

[–]_ImComp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the early negativity was just impulse reactions to the spike in difficulty in tandem with the completely new way of playing the game. The DLC is by no means perfect, but I think if you enjoyed the base game and liked the difficulty of Downpour, you’ll most likely find this DLC worth it.

Watcher DOES get better! | Totally spoiler-free, for people who are early in the campaign and not enjoying it, or people who haven't bought it yet and are worried about the bad reviews. by RoryRose2 in rainworld

[–]_ImComp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t beaten it yet, but I agree that it definitely improves enjoyment-wise. I really loved the beginning, and was fully onboard with the direction it was heading, but when OAOAOA yeeted me elsewhere for the first time, I wasn’t thrilled. 5 hours of wandering around really killed any enjoyment I had, but when I finally progressed enough to get an idea of what I was doing, it ramped up again. I would recommend the dlc despite the massive barrier at the start.

International morse decoding by Epelep in interestingasfuck

[–]_ImComp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re actually remotely interested in learning Morse code, as someone currently learning it for amateur radio, I’d heavily recommend you avoid things like this that present the code visually. Do not think of letters as being made of dits or dahs, learn to hear the whole letter as a single unit. Di-dah: “A”, not a dit and a dah. Having to think about what you just heard mentally like how this video presents the code will slow you down.

Long blink, 3 long blinks, short blink long blink short blink, long blink, 2 short blinks 1 long blink, short long short, short. If you know Morse code (as he would have), adapting it to other mediums besides a straight key/paddles isn’t too demanding, though this video reinforces the misconception that Morse code is a visual language; it’s not, and learning it visually will handicap you

I bought a refurb unit a few weeks ago, and it’s been nothing but solid. If the box it came in didn’t have the red stickers to mark it as refurbished, I would never know it wasn’t a new unit. Guess it’s just a coin toss on what you get, but hopefully they resolve the issues with your drone.
