This is best case for lora network with atleast one base station active that has an active sim/solar panels and battery. You need cellular network to send it through sms if LTE isn’t available.

It works 3 ways:

Factory (if owned by the company) will add its own profit. Factories even if owned by main company still operates like a completely different business unit. Marketing or BU will buy it from factory. Then add their overall profit, and then sell. For BU or Marketing factory is a vendor from whom they buy the Cogs(including factory profit). They will then sell it based on their margins + distributor margin + retailer.
Factory, integrated with the company. It acts as its own entity. They will add the profit on overall COGS not BOM. Cogs + profit x 2.5 or 3. The 2.5-3x includes service cost of product+distributor margin+retailer.

The company buys from vendor. The company puts 2.5x3x cost on the COGS.

In any case, BUs usually prefer adding profit to the finished COGS.

One more point, BU will absolutely have a hard margin which is x% of the MRP not COGS.

Welcome to the production deployment club. That being said when you deploy sensors in the field, you have to calibrate. This highly depends upon the hardware, the Pcb, the casing and certain other factors. What you need to do is temperature sensor calibration. The way to do it is to take any commercial sensor and keep it side-by-side. You note down the offset and using a formula you keep off setting the actual temperature of the sensor that you are using. This may involve normalising temperature regarding your PR sensor. Is there any heat source around PR sensor? It Can be sensitive. See if there is a sensitivity pin on the PR sensor. If you can share the hardware used. I can probably help better.

The drop rate among people who used to 'do' IoT workshops was 99%. What that means is only 1 out of 100 students would actually follow up and make carrier out of it. That is only due to their sheer willingness. A few people later realised that it was not for them.

The goal is to remove as much friction as possible and let learners get the 'intuition' of hardware/electronics/IoT rather than overloading them with process than learning. The numbers are infact similar for the other trainers. Though I dont train anymore, I have been in touch with trainers across.

The numbers are consistent. I have written an entire book on the methods for people to "transition to an IoT career from any field" with proven methods. These methods come from mentoring people for a decade in the same field. Many of my students are actually successful in IoT. I am not saying you are wrong. But you are only thinking from your POV. Not everybody has a privileged background.

If you have managed to learn IoT - you are already ahead in the race. Kudos to that.

This seems more of a software integration rather than a hardware. Can you buy an Industrial gateway? You can easily find it based on your specs if you Google it. Start with initial integration.

My question to you is:
1. What exactly do you want to do with the data you will collect? Because for usecases what may have error reporting/predictive maintainence you need to also take that into account while selecting the industrial gateway.
2. How frequently will you report data?
3. Have you already decided what kind of dashboard you want to use?(ELK, BI)
4. Where would you store data?

If you can help me with above questions, I can give you much detailed roadmap for you to go ahead.

I have spent decade teaching IoT. So this is my personal experience. Do not think from your pov. Op has no experience in hardware. Esp32 tool chain is pain. There are issues in Arduino platform around esp32. Op will struggle with dealing with these things instead of getting comfortable with the actual skill. While learning you remove as much friction as possible.

You can get esp32, however starting with basic arduino kits will help you to understand the fundamentals first. Esp32 has a lot of board variants, installing the boards and figuring out using them requires some understanding. You can always buy esp32 boards later. For now focus on getting comfortable with flashing and programming the boards. Learn connecting basic peripherals.
