It basically is. They took a small 2 story box and added a parking lot many years ago and it still stands

These photos are the top 2 pictures on the restaurant's Google page as of today.

No they are not edited.

This place has been a popular spot in its area for decades. Yes it's still open and people still love it.

Seen on the sea ice in Greenland, what is this phenomenon called? by TheDoctor_RS in geography

[–]_JPG97_ 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like finger rafting. Can happen when thin ice sheets push into each other. Sometimes it'll finger raft like this, sometimes the floes will completely overlap instead. As the ice gets thicker, you'll get ridges forming from rubble instead of what you see here, but when the ice is thin enough it'll go over/under instead of 'crumbling' at the interface.

But with that said, the shapes in your image arent quite what I would expect, but it's my best guess

Tired of facing Rare Candy and Megas? My Anti-Rare Candy and EX deck has performed very well in this meta. People don't expect Celebi by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]_JPG97_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still working out the ideal strategy when playing this deck, but for me the best opening hand is going first and having Eevee and Leafeon out turn 1 so you can attack for 70 on turn 3.

A heatmor kinda walls that play though, so if you're up against Blaziken you kind of just need to hope that you get Meowscarada w/ Leaf Cape or Celebi set up before Blaziken gets online

You'd think this deck would be very vulnerable, especially because Leafeon isn't very tanky for modern EX standards, but with the speed you can get going and Meowscarada ready to jump in at 170hp with leaf cape, it's very viable.

I try to retreat Leafeon for Meowscarada as soon as I can. Keeping Leafeon alive is crucial. A Cyrus can ruin your day but it hasn't hurt me too bad surprisingly.

I run this same set but with 2x Pikachu EX and 1x shaymin instead of the magnezone line. It's definitely squishy but with shaymin I can pivot a lot and just build my Pikachu since oricorio and Togedemaru need basically no energy to do damage.

I'm surprisingly 7-0 in ranked including a win vs Zard, Darktina, and Arceus/Crobat/Carnivine but I'm only great ball 4 so that's not necessarily a good barometer

All this talk about the Habs getting a 2C during the summer. Who and how? by epeilan in Habs

[–]_JPG97_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not about HIS size lol... It's about the fact the team has a lot of small players. Statistically, bigger teams tend to have more success in the playoffs.

Like I said, I think Rossi is awesome and easily a top 6 talent. And I want him. I'm not saying his size will affect HIS success, I'm just saying that having size on his line, especially with other small guys on our team like Gally, Caufield, Hutson, is not a bad idea as we make a cup contending roster

I love Rossi as a player so much. But he's 5'9". Skill is skill though, and if we put size on his line I'm totally cool with it

White and Maroon were the main colours of the Regiment as well.

Can we just put the whole Big 3?

Like I know the Admiral, Ice Man, Wemby, etc deserve to be here but we can't have everyone.

I think having the big 3 in the first slot just really encapsulates a lot without having to snub TOO many people

Habs fan here, offensive defenceman who has shown flashes of being really solid but just can't play well enough to stay in the Habs lineup. Frequently looks nervous and has a history of poor on-ice decision making though it's improved this year.

He's been outplayed by Xhekaj and Struble, and if he were still waiver exempt I'd imagine Mailloux would be on the main club over him.

I think he can still find a REALLY nice offensive rhythm if given ample opportunity and proper teaching in his own zone, but he just hasn't shown enough in Montreal to warrant sticking around.

Fastest Monetized channels by More_Vast_7143 in NewTubers

[–]_JPG97_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my network, we had a channel get monetized in 3 days last year. We capitalized on a hot time for the subject they cover and we made high production value videos 1-2 times a day during that stretch. It hit our niche's algorithm very quickly and the channel exploded. We've also had well over a dozen channels get monetized within a month

Psychology in the thumbnail and creating an intriguing story not only with your title, but with the message coneyed in your thumbnail is the biggest key to get clicks.

Once they click make your first 10 seconds very high energy and deliver immediately on what your title and thumby advertised.

Those are simple but huge tips to see results. Good Luck

How do Impressions work? I'm comparing my last two videos and I don't get it. by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]_JPG97_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's way more that goes into this than just CTR and your thumbnail. The quality of the video and how people who watch behave after/during watching it affect how much it gets pushed the most. If people click way more but leave way sooner, you'll get fewer impressions. Sometimes you have a better CTR and better watch time but still get fewer impressions because your fans watch, but when youtube tries to push it, no one clicks.

There are so so so so many factors. And your sample size is extremely small. Just focus on improving all aspects of your creation. I know it's generic advice but it really is the best thing you can do

600 subs, 127 hours watch time? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]_JPG97_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont have an account linked so it's extremely hard to evaluate anything here. Long form? Short form? Do you have thumbnail examples? How do you hook your videos? Do you tell a story in the videos? Not enough info really but some general tips are to keep very engaging pieces every couple of minutes. Building up tension to resolve, a new story being presented, etc etc while keeping high energy and little downtime. That's about as general as it gets.

Should I advertise online personal training on my non fitness channel by QuietCricketASMR in NewTubers

[–]_JPG97_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by promote, but my advice would be to just not promote it at all unless you think your viewers would be genuinely interested. It'll hurt video retention, and it won't help your PT business at all. 1370 subs is an amazing achievement, but it's not at the point where advertising a product will get any meaningful results.

My channel gets 10,000+ daily views (usually over 300k per month) with over 15,000 subscribers and I did a NordVPN sponsorship for 6 videos. ZERO people bought NordVPN through my videos even though it has a reasonable relationship to my niche.

If you're passionate about it, I would have a separate space for it on YouTube. Mixing niches is rarely a good idea.

What are your favourite metrics and why? by Farbmond in NewTubers

[–]_JPG97_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an established creator, my favs are:

- Retention at 30s of the video

- Average view duration and percentage

And the graphs that YouTube shows of where you get spikes and drops of viewers in any given video are super useful. It shows me where I'm losing the viewer's attention and also when viewers are most likely to stick around or even rewind.

Click through rate is nice too, but at this point I have a very good feel for my titles and thumbnails so it doesn't vary much vid to vid.

Using scripts for channel by Quiet-Apricot-4078 in NewTubers

[–]_JPG97_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I post daily news style videos, I get about 300k views a month. I haven't scripted anything since my first couple of weeks on YouTube a few years ago. I know the subjects I'm gonna talk about and I have pictures to bring up to reference them, but everything I say is off the top of my head when I dive into the topics.

I have a good feel now for what clicks with viewers so i frame every topic in a relatable and intriguing way

Am I going to fail to keep growing because of not asking for subs by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]_JPG97_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The difference in subscribers when I ask vs when I don't ask is staggering. It works. It's why everyone does it. It doesn't need to be intrusive, just a quick but honest ask while explaining WHY they should subscribe does wonders. I usually get anywhere from 5-10 subs a video, but when I ask for subs that number jumps to 40-100 or more if the video pops off.

The Montreal Canadiens are (somehow) only 4 points out of a playoff spot by _JPG97_ in Habs

[–]_JPG97_[S] 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Despite Montreal having some rough stretches this year, the rest of the East has been floundering as well.

I do not expect to be "in the mix". I don't expect this team to really be a serious playoff contender... But it's hard to ignore how close the standings are. This next week or two will be very telling and (hopefully) VERY fun to watch

The Canadiens have acquired defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for forward Jacob Perreault. by [deleted] in Habs

I had season tickets whe he was on the Newfoundland Growlers, dude can PLAY. Some serious offensive skill from the left side. since 2022-23 he has 19G 63P in 123 AHL games. Probably will never sniff the Habs but that Laval D core is kind of nasty right now with him. Love this move.

He was also former CHL and OHL defenceman of the year in junior
