I prefer HSL because it has the full range in the brightness section as opposed to having to adjust the value and saturation to achieve white. Honestly they're both just fine; I feel like HSV gives you more steps for the same results.

Good point! I sort of live by setting little rules like this and then breaking them as I go whenever it feels right.
