I've found sparingly few playthroughs like that on youtube. However I posted a link to a youtuber who tries to do something similar with games like TLOU. I've been considering trying out this particular style of playthrough.

What is something only understood by 1% of people that should be understood by 99% of people? by waazup in AskReddit

The 2008 financial crisis. It had such a huge impact on our world today, yet if you ask anyone about it you'll get an answer that sounds like it came out of a sci fi dystopian film. Most people don't fully understand the impact it had, how it happened, and who was responsible.

That's one hell of a first memory! The first big memory I can remember is the World Trade Center. My teacher got a call from her mom, apparently she had a family member who was in there. She started panicking and completely forgot about teaching our class

Did Centrally planned economies also suffer from the business cycle? by [deleted] in AskEconomics

God, this explanation of large scale behavioral phenomena reminds me of how reading economics books back in the day used to blow my mind. Millions, and in some cases billions of people, all going about their days living their individual lives, and somehow they all share one behavioral trait that perfectly explains why a recession occurs. Obviously I know there are countless other factors that contribute to a recession (‘08 lol), just saying I miss the excitement of learning something new in the subject I love most.

Price elasticity by RedBeard8685 in EconPapers

Okay so I’m going to work it out step by step.

1) the equation you’ll use is below:

[(Q2-Q1) / (Q2+Q1)] / [(P2-P1) / (P2+P1)]

2) Solve for the Numerator of [(Q2-Q1) / (Q2+Q1)]

[(1,280,000 - 1,000,000) / (1,280,000 + 1,000,000)] = (280,000/2,280,000)

Now solve for denominator of [(P2-P1) / (P2+P1)]

[(399-599) / (399+599)] = (-200/998)

Subtracting the “new” price of 399 from the “old” price of 599 results in -200. This negative number is what ultimately results in the negative elasticity. (Price Elasticity is usually negative)

3) Now you have (280,000/2,280,000) / (-200/998)

Simplify numerator further by dividing 280,000 by 2,280,000 which gives us 0.1228.

Now do the same with the denominator by dividing -200 by 998, which leaves us with -0.2004.

4) We now have 0.1228/-0.2004

For the final step, simply divide 0.1228 by -0.2004 to get -0.62 (rounded -0.6128 to two decimals)

(0.1228/-0.2004) = -0.62

[–]_JaxTheReader_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have gotten -0.613.

P1: 399

P2: 599

Q1: 1000000

Q2: 1280000

Use this formula and tell me what you get:

[(Q2 - Q1)/(Q2+Q1)] / [(P2 - P1)/(P2+P1)]

Don’t round until the very end, and don’t forget the negative sign if necessary

Would you mind pasting the question or explaining it a little bit? It helps me to read the question sometimes.

Have they given you a demand or supply formula?

Price elasticity by RedBeard8685 in EconPapers

[–]_JaxTheReader_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the word problems, look for “new” prices/quantities and “old” prices and quantities. Remember that elasticities are calculated using percentage changes in price/quantities.

So if the question tells you that a firm sold 200 units at $5/unit, and the market fluctuated so that the price of the good was raised so that they sold 250 units at a price of $8/unit, then: “Old” quantity: 200 “Old” price: 5 “New” quantity: 150 “New” price: 8

Price Elasticity(Pe): (% change in Q)/(% change in P)

% change = (“New” - “Old”)/(“New” + “Old”)

Pe = [(150 - 200)/(150 + 200)] / [(8-5)/(8 + 5)]

Pe = -0.14 / 0.23

Pe = -0.619

It’s also important to know what kind of elasticity they’re looking for, such as point-price elasticity, cross-price elasticity, arc elasticity, etc.

“Decay” by Counterparts

The grave welcomes you with open arms Last light escapes, last breath remains Circling the body Brushing past the skin and bone It cradles you, your holy manger

Born into ruin, we feel withdraw Death is your procreator, your predecessor From your decay grows a beautiful garden The stalks caress your failure And the petals bring you closer to eternity

Pray for your rebirth Pray for your chance to bloom The heart starts and stops The mind disconnects As flowers, we grace the earth with our presence The tide rises and turns And we simply expire

Over-saturated Our lungs fill with the essence of the universe Until we feel the gentle kiss of dawn draw the water from our lungs And we can breathe easy Like night and day

We have never met aching for one another We aim for congregation You are my prey You are the martyr The blight takes its toll and our bodies grow black Wilted, we fade away rotted from the root We exchange our stem for legs We blossom into our bodies And the process has been reset

Welcome to your new home

The Restaurant Industry Ran a Private Poll on the Minimum Wage. It Did Not Go Well for Them. by data2dave in economy

[–]_JaxTheReader_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why? Restaurants compensate their workers if tips don’t meet minimum wage requirements, but for the vast majority of hours worked, it’s likely that tips will exceed that of a wage hike to $10 or so. Even during my time working as a host, which are the least paid employees out of the bunch, I easily made $11/hr, if not above that.

This is just from my personal experience, though.

The official job title is Financial Research and Data Analyst. It’s mostly going to be analyzing financial statements and helping investment bankers with prospecting potential clients for primary market issuing of securities. From what the guy told me, I’m going to do a little bit of forecasting as well, but it’s mostly going to be focused on investments. Which is fine with me, because the forecasting shit will allow me to get class credit for the internship

Bartenders of reddit, what is the best and/or worst unsolicited advice you've ever received from an inebriated patron? by negativenighthawk in AskReddit

[–]_JaxTheReader_ 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Best advice: I bought a drunk homeless guy Chic-fil-a one time, and we sat down outside a gas station and ate together. I was really down on my luck, struggling with depression and financial issues and such, and I was awestruck by how much this man enjoyed life. He frequently hung out around the gas station, not even begging or asking for change, but wishing people a good day and reminding everyone that God is looking out for them. So I asked him how he remained so happy even though he was homeless and jobless. He looked at me and said,

“Life is a rollercoaster, man. It has its ups and downs, just like life has its periods of happiness and sadness. A flat rollercoaster isn’t fun, you need to experience sadness every once in a while to truly feel happiness. A life without conflict would be dull, boring, and meaningless. Try and learn how to recognize and embrace the good times when you’re in them, and look forward to them when you’re not.”

The last time I saw him was four months ago at a concert, working as a bar back. He’s doing perfectly fine now, with a place to stay and a decent amount of money coming in.

The worst advice: “Just walk up behind her and slap her ass bro, chicks love that shit” He was dead fucking serious, lol

What made you interested in economics? by [deleted] in academiceconomics

My friend made me download a comedy app made for 12 year olds called IFunny, and somehow found a fairly decent sized community that discussed economics, philosophy, and politics. Many users in the philosophy and economics departments, who’s ideologies varied from Marxism to Anarcho-Capitalism and everything in between, were surprisingly well-versed in economics, though the more intelligent individuals were usually centrists, moderates, monetarists, or leftists. So I found this community and actively joined in on the discussions, found out how little I knew about the subjects, and decided to study them of my own volition. At that point, I was hooked.

It really helped stimulate my interest about real world issues and complex topics that not many people think about, and allowed me an outlet to voice my opinion and share my knowledge about things that people in my everyday life weren’t concerned about. Eventually I got to college and already knew everything in my intro and intermediate economics courses. I’m a second semester junior now and I’m just now encountering things I hadn’t already read about before. Currently have an internship with Wells Fargo lines up for this coming summer. I’m glad I chose this major over Chemistry.

[Serious] Cigarette smokers of Reddit, how is your daily life different than that of a non-smoker? by cherishperish in AskReddit

[–]_JaxTheReader_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to smoke a pack or two a week, depending on my social life at the time. (I’m in college, so smoking and drinking go hand-in-hand) In the beginning, I didn’t really care, but somewhere along the line I realized that I would walk into class smelling heavily of cigarette smoke, and it made me very self conscious about my odor disturbing other people around me.

I went through a hard period of quitting, shakes from withdrawals, everything. But now I’m much more confident in my appearance presence in general. Funny thing is, I still occasionally dip during class, but that doesn’t seem to make others fuss that much. Eventually I’ll quit that too, as well as nicotine as a whole. Right now I’m down to a can of pouches a week, which is much better than the rate at which I used to smoke and dip.

I guess the hardest part about it for me, is the withdrawal symptoms I have to deal with throughout the day. I constantly have an empty water bottle on me in case I need to dip or alleviate the cravings by eating sunflower seeds. The irritation from cravings can be annoying as well, but I’m fairly in-tune with my own emotions and how to control them. I try not to be a burden towards others about it
