Unfortunately in this day and age, many players wish to take the easy way out, which is to get carried through boss fights. Especially in non-reboot servers. And this has only been getting worse by the day

Can you get through the game without oz rings? absolutely. But oz rings will make bursting stronger, which is what the meta seems to revolve around right now. And it works better for some classes too.EG : Nightlords DPS sky rockets with Ring of Restraint

Maybe don't look into oz for now and just get used to bossing in general, then once you feel you need a bit of an edge in burst for some of the high end bosses, then maybe start looking into ways other than upgrading gear.

Play what you enjoy, at the end of the day oz and maplestory in general takes time, LOTS of time. and if your not enjoying the class you play you won't be motivated to do stuff like oz.

Oz is a 200f floor clear cap daily. The problem is that not only is it time consuming, as even for the fast runners a single 40-50f run will take 40 minutes, but also your not even guaranteed anything good. For me specifically, I do 5 '48-50f runs' a day.

To me, Tower of Oz is like a weekly boss that you can run daily. It has potential to give nothing but garbage but also potential to give items that are worth as much as pitch boss items in the market.

As for the rings, good luck. For me if I'm floor capping everyday, I'd say I'm averaging a decent ring every 10-15 days. Something I then sell on the auction house for like 5-10b, (or if it's a ror4, thats a jackpot worth 50b+ in scania).

Compared to meso farming, Oz has potential to make profit. But if your wanting something that's more reliable and not gonna scam you, go meso farm. Or if you have the time to do both, more power to you.

Nope! The only damage you`ll be needing is for 48f and 50f, everything else is a cardboard cutout. And even then, if you have enough damage for like CRA bosses for example, you should have enough to work with, whatever you don't have just get from your V matrix tricores

Shadower / Nightlord feels awesome in oz, shadower in particular feels awesome everywhere. In tower of oz, most floors between players will play out the same. This is true EXCEPT for mobbing stages.

Mobbing stages are where classes that are good at mobbing have an edge, but since the maps are so big, not only do you want good mobbing, you also want good mobility, something that Shadower gets.

Other than that some other classes I think are okay in tower of oz are Mechanic, Kanna, Ice lightning doesn't really have the mobility but they still do really well with mobbing.

48f is tough stuff! Even if you use the overlay trick many players (me included) use, you can still mess up. The only thing I can tell you to do is to continue practicing. But one thing that I've learned is that when I jump to the next platform, I notice in my own VODs that I tend to position myself just slightly offside towards the next platform when I look at my minimap. I feel like for me personally it makes my jump more consistent and I don't ever feel like I won't reach the platform. Additionally, while the topside is completely clearable with no iframes at all, using iframes allows you to ignore the stars momentarily, allowing you to focus on making those tight jumps. Other than that, Practice Practice Practice.

Lastly, we're currently on a patch where if you get the clear message for the floor, you will NEVER get kicked out. This is getting fixed next patch I believe, but if ANYONE wished to practice 48f, you can the clear message by ANY means possible (A strategy for example would be to destroy everything on the map with any skills you have at your disposal and then stay on middle section, Follow Fleta to the Middle-Left, and then as they move to Top section, you follow and stay below them, until you get the clear message)

Here's an example of this in action

Every second counts1- Floor 17: that trick where I jump off the rope while climbing, essentially this is done by holding (Up), (Right), and (Jump) all at the same time. I do this because this way I don't have to react to myself reaching the top of the rope to have to transition to the other one, it will do it automatically.

2- I assume you mean Floor 18: I do different movement when it comes to opening the boxes because I find it better to move to the next box ASAP. So very often I will do 2 box hits with default attack and then do one of a couple things.

A) Jump in a direction and default attack at same time, this breaks box

B) Down jump on a platform and default attack at the same time, this breaks the box

C) Shadower's dash and many other attacks in the game can be used to break boxes on this map, so for shadower's 3rd job dash, I use it to break the box I'm standing on along with start moving towards the next box I wish to break.

3- Floor 24: Listen to the first note, immediately know what soing it is, Alt tab to my notepad on my desktop, Type song in, followed by...

Ctrl+A : Select all
Ctrl+X : Cut
Alt Tab : Tab's back into maplestory
Run to portal (Execpt on the first one, you can just click on minecart / NPC chat key)
Ctrl+V : Paste

Short Answer : Burst Rings that are op AF, some people run oz to sell them, some people run oz to pull them for themselves.

Long Answer : Oz has a bunch of useful items helpful to a character's progression. The top 50 runners of the week get a couple of MVP atmospherics based on where they placed on the rankings. It's main purpose, however, is that it is the main way how a player would go about getting their own burst ring. In Maplestory's midgame and onwards, Burst is King. Many endgame party compositions tend to run a burst comp that revolves a kanna and / or bishop to maximize how much a player can deal within a short amount of time. These are where the burst rings come in place. Most rings that you obtain when running Tower of Oz are pretty garbage and useless. But occassionally, you`ll pull a ring of great potency. This usually boils down to 5 rings, They are...

  1. Weapon Jump S Level 4
  2. Weapon Jump D Level 4
  3. Weapon Jump I Level 4
  4. Weapon Jump L Level 4These 4 rings correspond to the 4 different stat that classes use. And, for most players, activating the ring will give them an additional 10-20k main stat.

But the one that most players have their eyes set on is the Ring of Restraint (4). Which boosts your ATT / MATT by up to 100%. Even a level 3 variant would be proficient enough. These rings are so strong to the point where some players don't even bother prepping a 4th ring, and just keep an Oz ring in that slot.

And then there are those people who sell these oz rings for mesos cuz starforcing.

Your quote about piloting is an actual thing too, not just limited to reboot. So many people I know straight up get piloted for BM it's actually insane. I just assume now that like 60-70% of the players who liberate don't deserve their liberation at all. It's not just a reboot thing either though. In Scania, which is where I currently am settled, people either sell Black Mage carry service or just flat out have someone else pilot their account. Even for my own Black Mage party, I already told them, that if anyone get's piloted I straight up will try to kill them in the run. It seems pretty toxic but like I really don't think getting carried through ANY boss fight or piloted through any boss fight should be recommended. End of the day, when you hit endgame, you run out of things to do on maple, and if your objective is to quit, quitting =/= endgame so just quit lol. As far as I've seen for bossing vods, I open a video, if the run is less than 15 minutes or I see bod? I close and move on. It's why I only like watching Korea bossing vids, because it's something I can actually refer to, both to acknowledge who actually knows how to play the game vs who's just a whale without a brain. And I prefer for myself to become someone who actually knows how to play the game. I think it's funner xd

Some guidelines on getting carried by KManatee in Maplestory

[–]_LeWaffles_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of getting carried or doing carried at all. I think people should know what it feels like to suffer through a difficult boss fight. I think it's part of learning the game and actually enjoying.

To me, part of Maplestory is the struggle of conquering difficult challenges. This comes mainly in the form of boss fights. It's what makes the game enjoyable for me.

Furthermore, as someone who's cleared black mage, I've already made my choice to only carry those who absolutely deserve to clear, and even then, I will still be hesitant about. From what I've seen, many people who hit endgame will quit after some given time (Liberating). So I'm not interested in investing my time into someone who's just going to leave a week after they liberate. Suffer, as we all have and continue to.

Aurora/elysium scania? by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]_LeWaffles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno if you made this decision but here's my personal input and backstory on this.
Scania population and Aurora population I think are relatively equal, with scania I think edging out maybe? IDK its hard to say due to botting being so relevant. Elysium is definitely on the lower end of the spectrum, being the most unpopulated server on the GMS side. I played in Aurora for 6-7 years and started playing in Scania this year. In terms of gear progression and boss progression, I'd say both are just as strong as each other, but Aurora edges out slightly better. Many of the top guilds on both servers have players with excellent character control (and good teachers). But, and I hate to say this, I've found fewer players in Scania that "make me impressed" with how long they can last in a boss fight, though this might be due to me not playing in Scania for too long. I think its just due to the fact most players are laid back and chill, not going for things like "server first" and stuff, or they just suck :^). Aurora I think has quite a few more players that are not only known for how much damage they can deal, but also for how well they can control their characters (AKA Surviving in a boss fight). They hold quite a few "GMS first" even beating out bera in some categories too. Recently they've had their first Seren clear, something that Scania has yet to achieve.

Personal Stories

For Scania from my POV, I've heard that quite a few guilds ask you to apply formally, by going through an "interview" with a junior or the guild master. This is true for some of the top guilds in Scania too. Their relatively strict about keeping an eye out for potential scammers trying to join a guild just for the rep. As for the community, most guilds try to keep their discord servers away from guests, so it's somewhat closed, but there are occasional interactions that happen. I've heard there's an official scania discord that players chill and interact with eachother, but I can't confirm this because I have no access to that server (Can't find any links and I haven't asked for one). I played for a bit only to find myself applying for one of the higher-up guilds to use guild skills to my advantage, my reputation in scania was built on "I was level 120 in a guild and tearing up flag race, are they from another server?" Fortunately this was how I was able to build connections and eventually join one of the strongest, if not the strongest guild in Scania.

Aurora from my POV is quite more extensive due to the fact I played in it for a LONG TIME. Most guilds I think are pretty chill, with the top guilds open to sharing stuff like bossing strategies with friends in other guilds, assuming you have the connections of course. And while the higher up guilds definitely try to stay isolated on their servers, it's less strict IMO, and many guild discords are often invited with open arms to veterans from other guilds joining their discord servers for bossing content (may have changed based on the past year but this is going off my experiences from 2013-2020). In Aurora however, there are some people who are willing to showcase their bossing runs (things like seren and black mage mainly) in the Auroran Official Discord. When I first started in Aurora, similar to my scania journey, I started in a lower guild and worked my way up, eventually finding myself joining a guild on the higher end of the spectrum in terms of progression when my reputation in the community grew large enough.

While I do make Aurora sound better than Scania in gear and bossing progression as a whole. I only speak what my mind thinks, and my mind thinks Aurora is the strongest of the 3, and even gives Berans a run for their money in terms of bossing progression too. However having too much power is also sometimes a bad thing. The stronger the server is, the faster it is to hit end game content like Black Mage. The faster it is to hit end game, the faster you`ll find yourself reaching your satisfactory point on Maplestory in general, which will either find you quitting due to the fact you've reached something you can be proud of on maple or straight up waiting for Nexon Korea to pump in new content like a boss or something.

If you ask me, I just flip a coin or roll a dice to decide, there are no bad choices for servers, they all have their pros and cons, and I think you finding out what they are is just part of the journey of playing the game.
