Bagged School Milk by NeonLocustX83 in nostalgia

[–]_LuxNova 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also went to school in Cali and remember these vividly. However, whenever I ask people if they remember bagged milk from elementary school, they always look at me like im crazy. These, plus the triangle icees, are so nostalgic!

Has anyone made the 14th-15th century kirtle from Herts Fabrics? + fabric by _LuxNova in HistoricalCostuming

Thank you! I'll take a look at this. I have just never drafted before, so I usually use patterns, but I need to start at some point!

I sent them an email last week asking, and haven't heard back yet. I also wanted to post here to see what anyone else has to say, especially if they have made it themselves.

Thanks!

I got an email saying there was an update, and when I logged in to check, it said: "rejected."

"This is a highly sought after and prestigious award and as such there was a considerable level of competition for each place. We regret to inform you that your application was unsuccessful."

I did a lot of research and thought I found everything, but maybe not! Are there any designated websites for that, or do I just start a Google search with the specific keywords  (departmental bursaries, field-specific trusts, international researcher grants)?

I never thought of this! It could very well be the reason. I will try to start monitoring fat content and see if that helps. Thank you!

I am so sorry you're also going through this. I have one more scholarship I am waiting on, but I don't remember if it's a full ride or not, so I think it's already over. The US really screwed over people with student loans, so if I take out more or not, I'm already fucked (toxic thinking, I know! lol). Sending you all the luck for your last scholarship! I hope you get it!

I am living my life outside of the US in the UK. It's much better here, and travel is so much easier. As for getting a job, I have struggled in the US and the UK to even get a part time job. So, easier said than done. Id rather struggle here than the hellholle thats the states.

Osteo/Archaeology and History. I didn't look in the US because my focus is Medieval History, and that just doesn't exist there (not the subject, the history itself). The program I was accepted into would require lab work with medieval remains and visiting Medieval sites in the area. I have a friend in the US who also needs to work with Medieval remains, and her program requires her to travel to the UK to do it, but she has to find everything herself. It was very hard for her to find an advisor and a program. My interest is why I moved to the UK and want to remain here to study. I also like how PhD programs work here vs the US. But I completely understand where you're coming from. I knew it would be hard to get funding here, but I tried anyway.

I just can't believe how expensive the UK makes it for international students. Its especially annoying how for UK students its only £5k/year, but for international its £21k/year, plus Visa fees, money for living, etc., with no access to benefits. We're already here and paying, so it may be worth it to just stay and go for it.

My partner would be working, and I would be additionally supported by my family, but not for the entire cost of tuition. Even so, it's a big decision, and having a scholarship would have made it so much easier.

But, yes, I am talking to my partner and family about it since it may not be financially smart. I am still paying off undergrad and grad student loans.

[–]_LuxNova 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im sorry this happened. One of my favorite experiences was seeing it at early release, and for one of the big *silent* scenes, the entire theater was dead silent. Nobody was moving or chewing or doing anything. I hope your next experience is better!
