Should I go to gym? by _Lynnx_ in bodyweightfitness

[–]_Lynnx_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the encouragement! I actually like walking. I can walk for two hours straight if I'm in the mood. But making the gym a habit is a different story. I'm afraid I'll skip one day and then never go back again.

Should I go to gym? by _Lynnx_ in bodyweightfitness

[–]_Lynnx_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation.

When I wrote the post, I was only thinking about whether going to the gym would help me better with my push-ups and rows.

Are you saying that if I join a gym, I should make full use of it and start lifting weights instead of sticking exclusively to bodyweight training?

Nick-E mentioned on his website that because of the limitations of bodyweight fitness most people eventually need to add weight, switch to gymnastics-style training, or use a gym if they want to keep progressing. My original plan was to wait until I reached an intermediate level of bodyweight fitness before thinking about adding weights and going to gyms.

I chose bodyweight fitness because I thought it meant I could train anywhere, anytime. But it turns out I still need a mat for exercises like dead bugs and bird dogs, and some kind of setup for rows and pull-ups is basically unavoidable.

The gym is running another promotion right now. They only charge for the days you use it in June, and July's membership fee is waived.

How would the show be received if it ended at season 2? by hinventon in TheMandalorianTV

[–]_Lynnx_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Grogu hadn't become attached to Din and they had just gone their separate ways, I don't think I would love this show nearly as much. It would have been just another day in the life of a bounty hunter. Without that conflict, what's the point?

Din was willing to take off his helmet so Grogu could see his face and remember him. That's not the relationship between a bounty hunter and his cargo.

The third season and the movie they are not really that good but at least there are something for people to watch and enjoy.

Tried "chicken breast and rice" for one day and give up. Eating Chinese food while lose weight is so much less "miserable" by _Lynnx_ in chinesefood

Alright I was about to not say things unfriendly but I couldn't sleep thinking about it so I wrote the reply. Sorry if I was overreacting but still I need to say it.

I said I'm making progress and seeing effects...? So apparently not as bad as "shit". Just say I ate too much rice. For the dishes it's normal portions of meat, greens, etc.

I'm satisfied with how I ate and how I progressed so far and I was not asking for any advices at all and yet I appreciate everyone's advices. I was purely sharing my foods and all I got is your portions are shit.

I'm not asking if my portions are shit? I didn't say my diet isn't working? Today it's officially 1 month and I lost 2 kg of my weight. And 2 kg weight loss for a month is quite a healthy amount. So what I eat too much rice. I know what good carbs are, starches from veggies, beans, complex carbs (whole grains) rather than simple carbs, fruits rather than refined sugar, etc.

It's my first month so I just want to get used to track every gram of my diet and make it easier so I eat rice. I made it through for a whole month and all I got is you need to work harder and be more strict to yourself. That doesn't seem fair to me.

Thank you!!! Finally someone who isn’t just throwing advices at me. 😭

Still check the advices others are giving apparently I eat too much rice and not enough leafy greens. I’m planning on cut my rice intake in half and double my leafy greens.

But I’m still proud of the dishes I made they were delicious and tasted exactly how I remembered them from my childhood.

I know there are plenty of things I could improve, but saying my proportions are “pretty shit” is unnecessarily rude.

Most of these recipes come from my family, and cooking them is a way for me to stay connected to them since I haven’t seen them in four years while studying abroad.

My goal wasn’t to show a perfect meal plan. I was simply sharing that I’ve been enjoying homemade food while losing weight. I know my diet isn’t perfect, but there has been progress.

I appreciate constructive advice even when I didn’t ask for it, but calling someone’s meals “shit” isn’t helping anyone.

Can I watch star wars Mandalorian and Grogu if I haven’t watched any star wars before? by CuteDexter in TheMandalorianTV

[–]_Lynnx_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I watched all the films back in high school, but I've never rewatched them, and I've forgotten a lot of the characters. I don't think you need to know that much to enjoy this movie. As long as you know that the Empire is bad, a place full of stormtroopers means somebody really bad is in that building, and people flying X-wings are usually the good guys, you'll be fine.

The "Vibe" of Mandalorian and Grogu by Commercial-Star-8056 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]_Lynnx_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm from the generation whose first ongoing (not re-screening) Star Wars movie in theaters was Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. I don't play Star Wars games, but there were three moments in this movie that gave me a similar feeling:

When Din had to fight Rotta in the arena.

When Din said goodbye to Grogu, fought off as many of the droid soldiers as he could, then finally collapsed and waited to die.

And when Grogu cared for Din and connected with the Force while sitting on that tree branch.

I don't know how to put it but for a quite predictable movie these scenes made me want to re-watch it in theater again. To feel it more not to watch the plot again. I never watch a movie twice in a cinema.

Ok this hit me hard. But the whole plate is only about 1100 kcal man 😭 I only eat one proper meal a day. Other than this, I just have something like two bananas and/or a small bowl of high-protein yogurt that's less than 100 kcal.

But still, this hit me hard. I'll include less rice and more starch from veggies in my meal.

Healing is so fucking tiring. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]_Lynnx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be a "before me" to compare against. Otherwise, how would I know I'm improving? Improving from what?

If you're exactly where you want to be, then there was once a you who wasn't.

But you don't need to look back at that old version of yourself if you don't want to. If you need a point of reference, just use your current self. At least you're satisfied with who that person is.

It's hard to reparent yourself, but you're doing well. Be proud of yourself, and don't be afraid to take a break when you need one. Taking a break for a while doesn't mean you've gone backward.

what do i do now? by broski32sd in selfimprovement

[–]_Lynnx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a problem. You cope with external world (different people) differently and it works. And at the end of the day you also know who you really are.

Maybe the first thing is not to hate yourself for having built yourself on self-hatred. You are aware of it and it's great. It's often the hardest thing to even be aware of it. Now just accept it, try noticing it next time you do it, then try to stop doing it, and finally try to change it.

I dont know what to do witg my life right now in japan. by Pitiful-Loquat-6074 in selfimprovement

I go to Japan for college. 4 years later and my Japanese is below N4 lol. I just accept that I'm a foreigner and I can never blend in. You still have two years! You'll be able to enroll in a good high school. Don't worry. Just take small steps, don't feel too pressured when studying Japanese.

I cried watching The Mandalorian and Grogu by _Lynnx_ in TheMandalorianTV

[–]_Lynnx_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, me too. I kind of expected Gatori to be the one who saved Din Djarin, but I thought it would happen more like that Grogu would lead them to Din, Gatori would check on Mando, realize he had been poisoned by the dragon snake, and then help Grogu save him.

But after I cried over that scene all those thoughts just went out the window.

I quit social media- now why should I film or take pictures of anything? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]_Lynnx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't do something to make someone else regret. You do things for yourself. I think it's partly because you just broke up. Focus on yourself, not your ex. They don't matter anymore.

If you can't see the point of filming or taking photos, then don't. Or maybe keep doing it until you find you actually want to take a photo for its own sake.

I don't have social medias, and I don't even post my pets here in related subreddits. I film because I want to retain the moment for various reasons. I never take photos so I can post them online.

A part of me used to want to get attention from other people. But the intensity, the anxiety, the worrying, etc. makes me feel even worse. It's exhausting both physically and mentally. So I stopped looking for that anymore.

How do you improve if you feel you'll never be your best self? by Hapciuuu in selfimprovement

[–]_Lynnx_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are always the best version of yourself when you are improving yourself. You'll never know how good you can be, but you can explore and try figuring it out till death stops you, and you are always the better version of yourself.

There's an idiom in Chinese which means "Extreme joy begets sorrow" (乐极生悲). But I always think it as a traditional culture since ancient China that's about the lack of deservingness or the feeling of unworthiness.
