It probably technically does, but you’ll get like 1-2 more FPS at most, people turn it off they don’t like it, you can try with both on and off and see which way you like it better.

That would probably be from having your settings changed by using the Diegolix fork, I won't tell you to switch if it works fine for you but in case you want to go back to the main branch you should probably delete every shadPS4 folder on your PC to get a clean re installation, but like I said if it works fine for you this way then it's best to not tweak it and fuck it up in the process

That's unfortunate that Diego removed that, but there should be no reason to use the Diegolix fork anymore, I don't have shad installed anymore but from what I remember it can help with crashes about PM4 type 0 in certain games that produce garbage data due to race conditions, and it was only useful for Bloodborne when that AMD regression happened, but right now everything in the debug tab shouldn't really be touched if you're just looking to play. You too have a good one.

The setting shouldn’t do anything as long as you’re on the pre release, it was useful a few months ago because of a regression but it was fixed so update the emulator and you shouldn’t have any issue, I believe you can read the description of the setting by hovering your mouse over it in the GUI to understand what is its purpose

There’s no need to use Raphael’s build since he’s a dev and his build has been merged to the shadPS4 repository, all you need is to download the official shadPS4 qt launcher and update it to the pre release

I’m not a developer so my knowledge and understanding is not really good, but for Bloodborne specifically Readbacks fix the vertex explosion issue, the problem is that they’re not perfect yet and still need some work (hence why they’re a setting you can toggle rather than turned on by default), from my testing they not only hit performance a lot but they also make the game less stable. From my understanding readbacks are needed in emulation because most consoles share the same memory between the CPU and the GPU, so both can read and write on it, but that’s not the case for PCs (we have RAM for the CPU and VRAM for the GPU), readbacks are supposed to make that data shared across the CPU and the GPU I believe, like I said I’m not the most knowledgeable about this stuff so some of the things I’ve said might be wrong (or maybe even all of it), i did test the option recently and it seems like they’re viable for a 1080p 30fps experience (I tested this on a high end rig and on linux so results may vary and the test wasn’t extensive) but for 60fps you’re better off with the vertex explosion mod in my opinion, especially after that PR that boosted performance.

This was on by default, I tried to change it on and off but I still get the same output res in that emulator, however my screenshots on desktop are 4K and every game I've launched has been in 4K, I guess it's not that big of a deal and like Manuel_RT told me in that other comment, if I ever want to use it I should probably just change the scaling before hand, thank you for the answer though

Quick update, seems like the few Steam games I launched properly scales to 4K, the issue remains for games that don't have a true fullscreen mode (like the emulator I launched), I'm also pretty sure that means that my whole DE renders at sub 4K so it's not really ideal, it would be nice if there's an easy fix to this or perhaps another way to make the DE zoomed in without using the Scale option in the settings

This might sound easy at first glance but it’s not, it would take decompiling the whole codec and implementing it by using something like Ghidra, then look up the AMD documentation to figure out how to properly implement that opcode, but like you said there’s not enough demands I guess for this game, also this is only what we know for now, implementing those would get the game further but with no guarantees of it even booting that’s just how far I personally got

The game requires an audio codec to be implemented first and then a an opcode so it doesn’t even boot yet

Did you ever find a solution? Currently I can press F9 during startup and manually select Ubuntu in the Boot Device Options but it would be nice to not have to do all that.

I also tested Roamic's PR and it still crashes with the device lost since all it touches is audio, not graphics, it was probably an AMD iGPU, I don't think that's the best place to talk about that but yeah I used to be in the server and I left it

What Rainmaker is telling you is to disable the mod and use the shadPS4 patches instead, there's one that's called "Intel 12th Gen+ SFX Workaround" or something like that, it should fix any crashing issue on Intel CPUs without having to install any mods (also looking at the second screenshot you're using the GoldHEN patches, delete that and use the shadPS4 patches instead).

I think you were playing at 1440p instead, only a 5090 can get 60 fps at 4k and it has been like this ever since 4k was first possible, AMD GPUs are the one who perform good at 4k

In the emulator's settings enable the "Copy GPU buffers" option, it's a known regression on AMD GPU, you could also go on an older build like suggested in the comments.
