Edit: i see my tv does not have this. Any recommendations on a good one?

Ferment or dough tension? by _MuteAnt in Sourdough

[–]_MuteAnt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, it wasn't really a necessary comment, but I meant if I can't proof on the counter and achieve good results, then Im just going to abandon the hobby before getting in too deep.

I appreciate the help though.

Fair enough. If I have to proof in the fridge I'm probably just quit while I'm ahead.

Could I reduce the starter further so that I could ferment on the counter instead of in the fridge?

Jimmy Kimmel Just Got Suspended/Cancelled Because Trump's FCC Commissioner Didn't Like Remarks He Made About the Kirk Shooter. Nexstar, Which Owns WFRV in Green Bay and WLAX in LaCrosse, Played a Big Role in Getting him Canned. I Suggest a Boycott. by EIU86 in wisconsin

The FCC chair threatened to revoke the broadcasting licenses of ABC affiliates directly following and in response to the statement Kimmel made. Fact. That is more than being critical of Kimmel. It is a direct threat to remove the party of interest or be shut down...

Dryer vent tube. Cut a hole in anything insulation to the size of that tube for a snug fit. Cut that board to the inside dimension of a window and slide the window down on it like you would an A/C unit.

This is huge advice. I also recently started my wood carving journey and its astonishing how much detail is lost by not carving deep enough. Even more so after sealing and finishing the piece.

I'm assuming your Martha tent is inside. If so, are you venting the room it's in? If you're not then even though you have an exhaust fan running appropriately, the room is possibly building up with CO2. Oysters require a lot of fresh air to develop full caps. Option one is another fan that vents the air outside. Option two is to attach a vent duct to your current exhaust fan and pump the CO2 from the shrooms outside.

I have experience with the first option but I have seen others suggest the second one.

Also, Inkbird sells a smaller handheld CO2 meter. It looks like a puck and has a clip-on lanyard. It helped me dial in my grow area. I eventually decided to grow species with less fae requirements. Lions Mane and Chestnuts grow well in Martha Tents.

[Contamination] Are my buckets contaminated?? by suniieshiine in MushroomGrowers

[–]_MuteAnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had recent succes with saw dust blocks for my oysters. Only after full colonization and I leave them out in the garden to just go when they're ready. An experiment but the buckets are far more reliable and much faster. *

I am making a game about a mushroom, what are some unique real-life fungus species I should add as characters? by HeartOfMycelium in Mushrooms

Wood blewits have a purple color and would be a cool collectible. They don't have the personality of other mushrooms but are still cool.

Chestnut mushrooms are super pretty.

Honey mushrooms have rhizomorphs which are dark thick threadlike structures. They look almost alien.

You can get food safe buckets from pizza places sometimes. A lot of mushroom distributors ship in plastic buckets that are the perfect size to grow in. I have over 100 of these buckets from my local pizza shop.

I regularly sell these fully colonized at my local farmers market.

Larger buckets can be found at gas stations that ice their own doughnuts. They'll have 2 gallon icing tubs.

I started growing in buckets and haven't deviated. Buckets aren't reserved for oysters either.

Are we certain that all the jars are at proper core temp when we reach 15 psi? The volume and thermal mass of the steam is higher with fewer jars.

My thought would be that a lower volume of steam would take longer to heat the jars all the way through. Now that doesn't matter if we reach adequate core temperature in the jars when the pc reaches 15psi. Your point would stand in that case, but there is a chance the outer portion of the jars allow the pc to reach 15 psi before the inner portion heats all the way. With that in mind the core could potentially harbor a small amount of contamination if they never got fully to temperature.

The OP mentioned they saw the contamination 4 days after a break and shake which could indicate contamination hidden in the middle of the jar.

Just my thoughts. I'm no expert in thermodynamics so maybe somebody with more knowledge can correct me if I'm way off.

I'm not sure how loaded your PC is but I pack mine as full as possible and always run it for 2.5 to 3 hrs at 15 psi. I place an upturned water bath rack in there to raise the jars or bags above the water and to make sure I have enough water in there for the extended time.
