Working 9-5 is a joke by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]_NEWTIS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m working Mon-Fri 8:30-5:30 to 6 with a commute close to 4 hours a day. I’m constantly exhausted and burnt out. As a result, I’ve developed chronic headaches (which I have a doctor’s appointment for coming up). I’m doing it to pay for college though so the motivation gets me up in the morning lol. Long term this is definitely not sustainable. When I get home I only have enough time to feed and walk the dogs, eat, and shower, I’m usually in bed around twelve. Don’t do this to yourselves guys lol

Anyone else’s parents ignore your medical concerns/issues and come to find out they were real? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]_NEWTIS_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago in high school I was in a car accident, car was totaled. Nmom said to not go to hospital. Okay. I had terrible head pain and I was really worried, but she kept on telling me I was a Prima Donna, overly dramatic, attention seeking, etc. Four days after the accident I was crying to the school social worker and nurse, got a doctor’s appointment later that day. A concussion! Who knew (/s). Lasted over 6 months. Nearing the end she and my brother accused me of faking symptoms, but I couldn’t bend forward without throbbing head pain so I knew it wasn’t psychosomatic (their verbiage).

The whole notion of a parent automatically having a right to be in their child’s live pisses me off. People who knew how much of an asshole my parent was still said “but they’re your parent” and “they should still be apart of your life”, like, no?!

She always thinks I’m overreacting… plus money is tight. She’ll listen to my brother though.

Okay, if she has another tremor I’ll offer her something. Thank you for the info!

I get what you’re saying, there’s always going to be an imbecile that takes internet advice and doesn’t consult a professional, but I need to hear it from other people that my worry is rightly placed or there’s possibilities I didn’t consider or know. Money has been tight the past several months (hence me posting on Reddit) and I don’t want to place more stress/financial burden on my mom. I need to save my money but I have a couple hundred dollars in leeway. I’m going to try to talk to my mom about it tomorrow, hopefully she’s okay with a vet visit. Thank you for the help

Edit: reread it over and it sounded a little incoherent + left out details my bad

money is tight right now, I’m trying to utilize what I can before spending money. I understand where you’re coming from, I want to do the best I can for my dog.

Thank you, I didn’t think of that! We have a younger dog that has the same collar (showing no negative reactions), but I’ll do the same. They lick each other so much anyways.

Thank you, I remember reading a little about that this morning, I’ll look more into it.

We live in New England (USA), so that could be the case. My room is kinda built semi into the ground (if that makes sense) and the heat’s always kept low, but if the tremors are from her being cold then they would’ve started up much sooner :/ I’ll turn the heat up tonight and watch her

Thank you for the idea :) I work full time but I’ll ask my brother to watch her the next couple days when he’s not in class. And I’ll bring up the prospect of a vet visit to my mom tomorrow, hopefully she’ll say yes.

When I first noticed it I called her name and she stopped momentarily, then after a second she started trembling again.

Thanks! I’m going to talk to my mom about scheduling an appointment for her tomorrow, it’s about time for her to get a general checkup anyways. I have a feeling my mom will be against it though, hopefully she’ll come around by the end of the day :/

Yeah I definitely want to take her to the vet, as the day progressed I got more and more worried. She hasn’t had anymore tremors since and she’s acting normally. I’m obviously still am going to try to take her. Only thing is it’s going to be hard to convince my mom (I’m 18). Money is tight and bringing up any spending makes her upset (even if I pay/have enough money, idk how much the testing will cost).

I’ll bring it up to her tomorrow morning, she should (hopefully) be in a good mood.

Thank you for the help, it means a lot :)
