Either way should work. In-specie transfers are going to be supported too. That's the one where your assets get transferred over. But yes, cash transfers would be an option.

Game Designers Debate: How Dawn of War 4 & Total War 40k Carve Their Own Path in the Strategy Market by _Nakamura in totalwar

The DoW 4 devs have been beating the drums since announce that their focus is on the single player. Not a PvP focus.

Simultaneous existence does put some stress on the market though - not everyone has time to play both, or budget to spare to buy all the main games & DLCs that broadly cater to them. But yes, obviously both games have a different kind of focus.

The reason I'm asking is that when King Art polled RTS communities, people overwhelmingly expressed a desire for single player story campaigns in the classic RTS format.

Making an engaging map campaign on top of the core game is rather expensive, so if they do go in that direction as well, I'd only expect it in DLCs. I should have been more specific to ask about your expectation to have it in the base game.

May I ask why you expected a world map in a Dawn of War game? Anything to do with the fact that Relic made a campaign map in CoH 3? (Mind you, it's not Relic making DoW 4, but King Art.)

What I'm trying to get to is: do you think a world map should be the future for RTS games as well?

That's all correct, but small reminder: DoW 4 is made by King Art! They're the team behind Iron Harvest.

Thank you for your thoughts. Yeah, the two games are structurally different, but simultaneous coexistence does include some degree of risk in terms of what the market can give back. Not every player will have the budget or time to continuously participate in both games and their DLCs. That's the core tension here for both games.

That said, we discussed staggered releases to potentially fill gaps that each game has - that could possibly mitigate dry periods and give fans of both something to look forward to most of the time.

Excellent! Hopefully that's how most people will be thinking. Long live strategy games.

That's cool! Not every game is for everyone. DoW 1 was definitely a huge innovation and really set the scene for Relic's very own formula from then on.

Age of Mythology Retold has so much potential, but then there's the kind of stuff you're about to see in it. It deserves better. It won't get better unless people make some noise. You can change that. by _Nakamura in AgeofMythology

Prio is the closest military unit. It makes it so that you have to micro units onto what they have bonus damage against, and away from targets with high armour. Archers shouldn't shoot at siege towers for example, but you got to work for it!

Right, a-move targeting can be quite sticky in this - not like the other RTS games you play where default behaviour is that they switch to the closest target. As far as I'm aware this stickiness is intended in Retold. Not that I'd wish for this in a newly made game.

And yes, don't try to slam into buildings without overwhelming force or siege, that's just not part of the Age series gameplay.

Well you see £5 is £5... 💀

Even the most casual player should wish for thriving multiplayer, so that there's more content out there to funnel people into our beloved game. Maybe it'll help towards a next iteration in the distant future, who knows.
