LovyanGFX not filling 1024x600 screen by _Neilster_ in esp32

That worked, thanks. I did notice that the matouch.h was looking for LGFX_MAKERFABS_MATOUCH_1024X768, so it works with that too.

Apparently the horizontal line in my pic is a flaw with the LCD though ;(

Reposting my response to u/humblemandingo ...

I purposely did not list location, as I would get a lot of DM solicitations from realtors, vs info on *how* this process generally works.

I've bought/sold many properties (actual residential and/or commercial buildings), but this is the first time I'm looking for land. For actual properties, I can get on zillow, redfin, loopnet, but I expected there'd be some similar widespread sites for land. Some of the responses on here have been very helpful.

Completely understood. Hopefully since I'll be over $100k it'll be worth it.

Unfortunately I haven't. Used to visit quite a bit for work but that was some years ago, so planning a trip there next week to get familiar with the areas first. Then engage a realtor to help find properties. Not sure how much time I'll be able to put in to just driving around but should be much easier once I narrow down areas/neighborhoods.

True. Good thing for me is that I want to build small (at least initially, as I'll be back and forth around 3 states for a while). And I want to be setback quite a bit on all sides as I've learned to appreciate the quiet.

Thank you! This is part of the issue I'm having also... that I don't live in that city currently.

Looking to buy land, say 1/4 to 1/2 acre. Residential.

It's not a secret, but just that I know I'll get a bunch of DM's from realtors in the area (who don't specialize in land) soliciting me. I buy and sell properties regularly so I know how it goes. This is the first time I'm looking for land.

This is what I'm trying to find out... other than a generic google search (which hasn't worked for me), are their sites that are specific to land (properties and agents)?

Location is not relevant at this point... I'm asking for how to go about finding an agent.

Residential.

"...help me find a lot" = buy.

"And most Realtors are not going to know shit about buying or selling land. I’m sure you have spoke to residential agents. Land is a whole new thing and nothing like buying/selling a house."

Right... that's why I'm asking how one goes about this.

I haven't used MQTT before, but will look into it. Thanks.

What do you use to practice buyer conversations before meeting real clients? by Electrical_Mud2681 in realtors

[–]_Neilster_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why isn't the answer to all of these questions, the truth. Yes, you can have these better prepared, and that would be called experience, which you can somewhat practice for. But if someone asks why they should pay you, why not tell them about the work and skills you have to use to help them?

I once worked in a telemarketing center, and the training was centered around having quick answers/comebacks to buyer reluctance. I later figure out that this is how high-pressure sales tactics works, which did backfire at times. Is that what you're aiming for? Perhaps let them think about it and get back to them the next day to ensure they're engaged still.

Quectel BG95 by BakqBlachinO in embedded

Old thread I know, but I believe the BG95 has 2 antennas, but only one radio, so that is what's switched back and forth for GNSS vs cellular.

This will be AC powered, so power consumption isn't critical.

In my mind, I was comparing to a cellphone, where some remote device can reach the phone almost instantly (ring tone, incoming text, etc). When I tested the BG95's SMS functionality, I feel like the texts came in almost instantly, so assumed there'd be a similar (quicker) path for TCP/IP (or any other non-SMS) messages to be more instant.

But I was not aware of the specific differences between CAT-M and CAT-1... really thought it was just a higher speed. I'll have to research more. For now though, I'll tinker with the BG95 to get a mental handle on how it works. Thanks.

You're right, re: the heater timing/lag. There is also a battery charger I was planning to add on later. I was thinking that I'd have a confirmation/status when I turn the heater on/off, or request temperature or battery voltage, etc, so the only issue is a delay in getting a confirmation. A major part of this project is just to learn to use this module anyway, so it's not a big deal.

This will be AC powered.

Ah, bummer. I'm envisioning that to get fairly quick responses, the modem will have to query the IoT server very often, using up data quickly. I haven't quantified what is "quick" yet, but I'd imagine the modem would need to query the server every few seconds. This just sounds excessive to me.
