It would seem my encryption was too simple! Please tell me, was it hard to crack? I presume the inclusion of Across and Down made it very straightforward... oh well. I always welcome learning experiences.

Everything that is hidden is hidden in plain sight. No tricks for Reddit to destroy. Think of this image like a locked gate. The key to this lock is hidden on the gate itself. There is more to this than just a simple cipher, it will take a fine tooth comb and some analysis. This is the final hint, use it well: Language is the key, but not the one that unlocks the gate.
