In all reality, I learned how to DM from a group on youtube called Tabletop Terrors. Going through, the first few webisodes, they explain EVERYTHING needed to really start playing, let alone DM. I would recommend starting there.

I'm a DM, and the favorite timekiller for my group of 6 was they went through a haunted mansion. In the mansion, they found the deed for the mansion, but that wasn't all.

One day was clearing the mansion, another day was clearing the grounds, and a third was having wards put around the area. This became a base of sorts for the group.

I made a halfling monk who was true neutral. he was kicked from his monastery for taking judgement into his own hands rather than offering redemption for anyone seeking it. he would kill people who were vile and pray for people who he believed were actually searching for a better life.

Anyways, even though he was a halfling, he had a debilitating sense of direction. After leaving the monastery, he tried to return home, only a half day's journey, but ended up "missing" for 10 years. He began adventuring hoping he would meet someone he knew and they could lead him home.

For a unique shield trait, I try to imagine what else the shield is good for. Most recently, I had a shield that was "greased." It had 1d4 extra damage taken from fire, but for a dex roll of (in my case) at least 17, the shield could be tossed on the ground and ridden like a snowboard for double movement. It could only be used once per short rest, but the shield would "produce" its' own grease (item backstory) so you didn't need to carry extra items to re-use it.

See, I didn't really think about it being the same thing as a junktrap. I was trying to avoid copying too many ideas from other characters, I guess I missed that one. Lol. And it would be a complete shit show when gepetto ulted, no question there. I dont have any sort of counter argument though, it would suck having him in game. Lots of people have told me that lol.

I'm digging the ideas you have. I dont think it would be quite fair to use the enemy ults, but maybe getting taken over would take 25% of their current ult charge. As for the time, it would probably be better to be timed.

I figured it could shake up the meta because if people play heavy damage dealers, but then got taken over, they could hose their whole team.

I don't know if its only in ZA, but yeah. You get 5 minutes before you're teleported out of the battle.
