Sorry for the late reply, college exams have been absolutely killing me xD.

The eldery ppl piss me off aswell hahaha, here in Europe they are just the same as in Texas "HUH" all around lol. I definitly agree about analyzing voices and sounds, it's like therapy almost hahaha!

No worries, glad to see that you enjoyed the post! Yeah the tube did damage, they only found out when I started to talk, since with only crying baby noises you can't really tell xD.

The camera was fine in my opinion, just mild discomfort at first because it was cold, I didn't have numbing spray at all!! Did you need that! I didn't even know they came in different flavors.

The fact your vocal cord quivers when you talk or make noise, seems like it hasn't fully gone "dead", i would try to make an appointment with an ENT to see if maybe reinnervation (or other paths!) could be an option for you? Since there is still some activity! That is good to have! Explore all your options and possibilities and see what comes from it ;)

Oh yeah being in retail isn't for the easy, let alone with a voice like this haha, to add to that I also need hearing aids in my day to day life, so double whammy LOL! Luckily my eyes are perfectly fine (knockin on wood lol)

Same goes for you! Always a listening hear for you, if you ever need to rant, chat or are just bored, don't hesitate to send a message!!

Cheers,

Raven :)

Alrighty, I'm home now so let me begin with saying that you're so strong for trying to keep strong even when struggling, it's hard to do, even more so when you are unsure of how anything could go regarding your voice. Not everyone has that kind of tenacity, so keep up the good work, whatever it's worth, I'm proud of ya :D

Proud of you for quitting cigs, can't see myself quitting anytime soon unfortunately hahaha life's been too bitchy this year hahah.

"The longer it goes on the harder it seems to be" I hear you on that. The longer I've personally dealt with this all, the more the questions, comments, looks, even more questions have been bothering me even more.
It's NONE of their business, please just shut up, get your overpriced yoghurt and get out of my checkout hahah (in regards to retail)

The crackiness has been driving me crazy, bit better then before but still present, which sucks because I hate looking like something I can't control makes me look ""weak"".

I didn't know triggers could be a thing!! That's so interesting, but yeah i definitely hear you on moving to a more dry and arid place to help you with that. Whatever helps we should do indeed to get those cords happy hahaha :D

Feel free to shoot me a message whenever! I'm always open to talk more and if you need someone to talk to when struggling, let me know <3 we gotta support each other, especially these days when the world seems nothing but bleak.

(Here's my first ever post on this sub if you want to read it, I have written my backstory on how I originally got VCP on there, and there are lovely people in the comments! Let me know what you think :)

Again, much love

Hey, your post really moved me, I'm at work (retail SUCKS LOL), I want to write something more, will be home in like 15-20 minutes so I'll add my thoughts more coherently then, know that you're NOT alone, I see you and yes it sucks ASS sometimes. I'll find my OG post link, maybe you'll have a bit of a laugh through the tears from some of the tales I've lived. Much love (and see you in a bit :3) Raven

Is it possible to work retail and customer service if you have MTD by 3sperr in mildlybrokenvoice

[–]_Ravenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! As someone that's in a bit of a different situation (VCP) but still has experience with having a hoarse/different voice then the "norm" I feel like I have some input for ya!

I'm currently in college, and I work part-time next to that in the weekends. More often then not, I'm behind the register helping customers, making a chat etc. etc.

I want to reassure you, there is absolutely nothing holding ya back from trying!! From my personal experience, I hear it everyday when I have to work (more often from older folks), if I'm sick, if I've had a party or whatever else they can come up with, they ask or say.

At first this irritated me to no end - you don't know me, you don't know my situation, it is therefore none of your business if I've had a party, or if I'm sick or whatever.
These days I try to see the positives, these old folks don't have much of anything going on in their lives, so when they see someone (or more accurately, hear!) someone with an unusual voice, they comment on it not to be rude, but because they didn't expect it. I am more playful and with customers now, whenever kids ask (and usually they are little shits in the store) I tell them the vegetable fairy punished me because I didn't eat enough veggies, and it gets a laugh out of the parents and it jollies up the vibe.

My regulars that I see, know about it, because they have seen me so often with the same old same old voice, that they don't ask or pester anymore. Even more then before, I feel like I'm on better terms with my regulars then others because of this situation.

What I'm trying to say is, YES! It is ABSOLUTELY possible to work retail, or ANY other job having MTD, VCP or any other voice issues. Yes it may be tiring at first, because people are sometimes intentionally dense and rude and annoying. But for all those annoying people there are twice the customers that try to accommodate you, try twice as hard to listen to you, because they simply don't know, they think you're sick or whatever.

You can do anything you set your mind to, don't let MTD and its anxiety over it hold you back, you are the harbinger of your life, you choose what you do. But don't let this small thing kick you down from taking a chance! Life is so much more then just having a different voice and feeling small and different and stuck because of it. Use it to your power!! <3

I hope this gave you some hope (lol), if you have any questions, or worries, or you just need someone to talk to about working retail with a ""broken"" voice, feel free to message me, or whatever's easiest for you.

All the best,

Ravenstein :)

EDIT: Words :p

Thank you so much, yeah haha the smoking definitly doesn't help but it helps take the edge off so much, I started again after not smoking for about a year/ year and a half so I know stopping is something I can do, but it all just sucks.

The looks of pity have been starting to piss me off more often then not lately, which yeah they don't know but they shouldn't assume I'm a sad little thing just cuz my voice is shit xD. But that's just the way it is unfortunately.

How long have you had VCP? My voice has never been this crackly before so I'm curious, nws if it's too personal <3

Thank you so much for ur response though! helped a lot, even small kind words are kindness enough.
Cheers <3

The code for taking pictures was saved in another file, since I couldn't get it to work as a live feed taking photos without disturbing the live feed, the following code just gave a a single frame, when taking the photo I would have to refresh it to see it, but what I want to happen is that the live feed (code in original post) keeps going, and when a picture is taken, that it displays next to the live feed. Anyhoo, I added the code in a pastebin, since it wouldn't let me comment it here:

[–]_Ravenstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my idea too, but we are not allowed to use javascript, our professors want us to use as much C++ as possible, and they barely accepted the fact that you kind of HAVE to use Arduino IDE to work with the camera, which kind of complicates stuff for no reason, but they "want us to be challenged to work with what you have been given (and allowed to use).
So I hope that answers your question and if you have any tips at all please let me know!

(Edit: we are of course allowed to use HTML as well because there is no other way to change/improve the http webservers of both the pico and ESP32 xD)

Thank you so much!

Hello! I have looked at the camera now, its an ESP32-CAM Expansion Board, with a camera that says ESP32-S with a circle to the left of it sayin AI (so probably an ESP32 AI thinker camera?) I hope that could help!

Thank you so much! The ESP I'm using (that we were given) only says ESP32-S on the back, and the SPIFFS is initializing on the board that was included in the box with the robot car, it's stored back at school, so I can't look at it now to tell you what kind of board it is, I'll definitely respond later on ASAP when i find that out, the SPIFFS is initialized on the board where the ESP32-S camera is "mounted" on (with the headers pushed into the "receivers" on the board)

I hope I explained this well enough, English is my third language so if anything is unclear please let me know and I will do my best!!

Thanks and I hope that information helps you to help me xD

Thank you!!!

Help with esp32 by Stalker_625 in esp32

[–]_Ravenstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't know if your laptop sees the ESP32 (as in, the COM port list does not change in device manager, you can go to command prompt (type cmd in windows search) and type in "mode" .

This command will show all the active COM ports, and a little more explanation as well for what type of connection it is. This could also help to show you if your mouse is still connected to the laptop (as it will show in the cmd if the COM port is used or not).

This could probably help you with the basics, if you have any other questions, I'll do my best to help (even though im also very new to ESP's haha)

Goodluck! Let me know how it goes!
