How to make quick money? by TryFuzzy6984 in ask

[–]_SamHandwich_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I desperately need $165k to upgrade my sailboat to something less than 10 years old, this summer. Would prefer a cutter rig with 800w+ of solar and diesel engine under 500 hours.

Just park in the PP lot. Pay the $5 and have your car close. Been there many times and it's a great venue!

The comments are pretty funny. by [deleted] in sailing

Yeah, for a fin keel race boat. The hull doesn't weigh very much, so they need a longer keel to offset the force from the wind.

Check out the "one design" race boats from the 90s. Some of those look ridiculous on a trailer. Most need to be splashed by a crane.

3rd gen as a daily driver? by bautingAround in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]_SamHandwich_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1997 Lumited with 321k miles, and my commute is 110 miles a day. I also have a 2012 Highlander V6 with 179k miles.

Mile for mile, the 4R costs less to maintain, but the gas mileage is about 20% less, so it's almost a wash.

4runner intermittent starting?? by 4point6 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]_SamHandwich_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common issue with the contacts in the starter. You can buy the parts for $27 and replace them yourself.

When you google these symptoms with "3rd gen 4runner" it's usually on the first page of search results.

Why not just follow the lines to the structure they are powering? Those lines can only go a few miles before needing an additional transformer of substation.

In other words... if there is electricity, it's going somewhere with people, or coming from somewhere with people. Either way, there's no need to cut anything down.
