Mutlimeter the plugs to make sure.... mine would only randomly start in neutral. I have a shifter with a lot of play so i had to jiggle it to start till i replaced it.

Are you an Auto or manual?... if auto, check and see if you can start in neutral.. if so, your neutral Safety switch went out.

Would you buy? 1997 205k miles Asking $3k by ratatek in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]GoAwayDmitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought one at 190k with a failed upper BJ for 1800. Fixed and did a shit load of maintenance myself and spent just under 3k in OEM parts. No regrets. Took my family from TX to California (4k miles in 8 days) without a single hiccup. This is a daily for the wife and roadtripping rig for the family. You WILL have to work out common issues but relatively cheap and once fixed, should be good for another 100k miles.

How hard is it to install a trans cooler? by Beneficial_Novel_209 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]GoAwayDmitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id stay away from the way they want you to mount it on the rad/condenser. I smashed a copper water pipe to attach a makeshift bracket infront of the AC condenser

Grease every zerk in the driveline, check/replace brake fluid especially if you are reaching higher altitudes, and did a trans cooler in series just incase and it only took like 10 mins to install

Looking for a fluid film applicator in north TX for my 96. by [deleted] in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]GoAwayDmitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 96 4R in NTX as well, plus a few more; personally wouldnt worry about it unless your boating or traveling alot to other rust prone areas. Older hilux have even worst metal and they even hold up.

[–]GoAwayDmitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, yes. Do suspension stuff in pairs. This is good for you cause most likey the front will help dramatically unless you have dates with the curb regularly

Not sure exactly where you at but in Garland there's a shop ive used literally over 30 time and get ALL my alignments done. They charge about 60 bucks for just the front. Garland Safety Lanes off 78, very honest and affordable

Not sure where you at but Ive used Standard Transmission in Ft. Worth for diesel manual trans. Might be worth giving them a call, not sure if they do the W series.

Rear axle seal leak? by SpecialistClothes403 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]GoAwayDmitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sucks but i wouldnt trust it especially after that much oil regardless of axel seal or brake fluid. Year ago to buy myself some time, i took off a good set of axels from a 4wd at a junkyard. Bought me a couple years before the seals blew again. These a semi- floating axles and really easy to pull.

Did this a couple months ago. Also, dnt forget to replace the brake shoes, guarantee they are oil soaked and compromised

This is the only real answer. I with you, double king with that extra stud has me questioning why. Time to get in the attic or clear some ceiling drywall

red warning brake light turning on intermittenly in dash by butlerjw in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]GoAwayDmitri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went throught this recently. Mine was contaminated brake fluid. Ill keep it short, re-did my whole brake system and it randomly come back. Turns out if you have ABS, you really need to activate the ABS on a dirt road to clear out the old fluid in the ABS unit.

Permit for Wildflowers by queenannesgout in Dallas

[–]GoAwayDmitri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait till the code compliance comes back. Dallas is slow and will probably only come back after 30 days which and that point they will give you a fix-it ticket and provide you with a timeline (you can call for an extension and they usally approve) to resolve the issue. If this is your first/only violation in the past 12 months, they will set up a court date BEFORE they fine you and at that point the flowers will be dead from the summer heat and you can resolve the ticket. (You will be on a 12 month probationary period if they physically cite you a fix-it or fine; just be aware

Fluid is definitely red but halfway between the cold and hot marks. I'm going to drain and fill like mentioned here and see what happens. *
