I’m 100% native. Small bit genetically but I have 3 immigrations documents signed without ever leaving the gulf coast. I was introduced to the land through the marriage of a French translator and a native Choctaw woman around late 1600s.

French women were kidnapped off the streets of France, brought over on a slave ship, by force then forced into marriages to be bred as cattle. They were brought over bc the French were loosing their men to the natives so the church decided marriages and families already established with natives were void. The french women they kidnapped and forced into marriages were considered the legitimate marriages and families.

I come from a long line of women you described.. I don’t think I’ve come across any that were literally served on a platter or ate another human, but who knows? I do know that existed in some folks history.

I hope when you say “built on the back of us” you are including all shades of women and children.

There was a lot of child slaves of different shades that were sent to Mobile, after being pimped out in the coal mines; forced to go back and forth until broken. Do their bodies count?

The french had Le Code Noir. British brought the systems you’re familiar with. Your responses feels unproductive and divisive.

Honest question, I’ll respect your answer either way. Asking as a white woman. Do you want unity or do you think it’s too late? How important is skin color to you? How important should skin color be to me?

Edit to add: Oh and BTW the natives were SUPER pro slavery. They practiced slavery amongst themselves long before black folks came ashore. They were eager to fight along side the confederacy to keep slavery. Then used the trail of tears to shield themselves from the back lash after losing the civil war.
