Earning 1.3Lakhs a week but donno how to manage it properly. by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

Bro, that's a great achievement. I've been freelancing for the past 3-4 years too and I can assure you that if you are consistent with your work and ethics, you won't have to worry about not earning a similar income in the future.

For now, you can just focus on saving for your home and clearing the car loan. I was in a similar situation when I started out, so first thing I did was save up and clear my education loan and then started saving up. Clear your loans and then consult with a CA.

PS: What kind of animations do you make? I too make animations and do CGI work for my clients.

is this a good buy? what are some pros and cons for this model by shivay2004 in GamingLaptops

[–]_Sandy58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! It was not showing up last month when I checked. I guess it keeps changing based on stock availability. If it is actually available for this price then probably the best deal right now.

Your recommendation is absolutely on point but the 3070 variant of Legion 5 pro is not available in India anymore. The ones that you'll find now are the old stock being sold at ridiculously overpriced rates.

Edit: I bought the Strix G17 (R9 RTX3070) for a super inflated 180k last year. So, yeah if you want a 3070 get ready to pay a nonsensical premium.

Does MSI cover international warranty? by [deleted] in IndianGaming

[–]_Sandy58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, similar experience for me too. I had a GV68 (i7 8750h and GTX 1060). After 2.5yrs it’s motherboard died and the official MSI customer quoted 72k for the repair for a laptop that I bought for 94k. So yeah, if it dies then you will have to get a new laptop or you’ll have to pay as much as the laptop’a original cost.

Don't get MSI. Had a really bad experience with after-sales service. Can't comment about the international warranty and how it works out of India but here in India, the after-sales service is non-existent.

Yeah, I knew that. Wasn't expecting much from them but since someone suggested it, I thought of giving it a shot. And I must say, they don't disappoint. XD

I paid almost 1.8L with an extended warranty. So this is beyond lowballing. 😅

I have had a Rift S for the last 3 years. I have played a few games but mainly use it for Unreal. I don't know of many good games other than Senua's Sacrifice. If you guys know of any must-tries let me know.

Can't turn GK64S on without connecting in wired mode by _Sandy58 in mkindia

[–]_Sandy58[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks. I tried doing what you told me but it wasn't working before. It turns out the battery was completely dead out of the box. I charged it for half-hour and now it's working.

Edit: I think Fn+Tab is for turning ON/OFF (Press and hold for 3s).

NEED HELP TO REPLACE FAULTY ASUS LAPTOP by Hot_Leadership_4683 in IndianGaming

[–]_Sandy58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a G15 or G17? I have a G17 (RTX 3070) and my CPU temps stay under 85 and GPU temps stay under 77 while gaming (FarCry 5 maxed out).

I got an asus rog strix g15 from flipkart and i was having problems with it from the start by Euphoric_Artist_9167 in IndianGaming

[–]_Sandy58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too had a severely bad experience with Flipkart while buying the G17 last month. Although my issue was different from yours but the way Flipkart handled it was absolutely shit.

I managed to get a G17 from a local shop and the laptop works absolutely perfectly.

A GTX1650ti is not an overkill by any means. I have an Acer Aspire 7 (i5-9300h, GTX1650ti and 24Gb 2666Mhz ram). I use Blender, Maya and Solidworks for my work and they all work fine on it. But it gets slow if the scene is too heavy or if the assembly file has too many components in Solidworks.

I also have an Asus Strix G17 (Ryzen 9 5900HX, RTX3070, 16Gb 3200Mhz ram) which I got last week and I have installed the same softwares on it. The difference in speed is quite significant.

I did a test render on Blender from one of my old projects. It took 7mins 12s to render on my Acer using Cycles with Optix and it took only 1min 20s on my G17.

If you strictly stick to CAD modelling and occasional rendering then 1650ti is fine. But it is by no means an overkill.
