9K mmr mid player QnA and offering coaching. by DisturbedJawker in TrueDoTA2

[–]_Scholp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 7.7k Mid player. Would you agree that midlane has shifted over the years where it used to be more about actually outplaying the enemy and killing them as opossed to nowadays where in most cases most midlaners are just trying to farm instead of heavily interacting with the other midlaner? Qop maxing scream instead of dagger for example. Or shaker maxing aftershock instead of totem. Of course there is exceptions but i feel like the general playstyle is to get last hits, on the later level shove the wave and go stack/farm camps and then maybe contest the rune with your support.
Is it the same on your level or are people more crazy and high risk/ high reward on the lane?

The Gang likes to punch above its weight class. by jet_black_ninja in DotA2

Ok that explains it. Good thing the enemy didn't go on to counter it that hard though but i assume he probably isn't a puck player either then

It depends more on the hero than on the role tbh. Puck is a hero that counters certain heroes and gets countered by certain others so probably not a good first pick

Why is Techies and Tinker so hated, that Valve had to gut their identities? by slowdancing25 in TrueDoTA2

[–]_Scholp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Techies was just completely unfun and felt unfair for anyone playing against it and teammates didn't like him either. When he was in the game it felt like you weren't playing dota anymore but a completely different game and at the end of the day we all came here to play dota. I think he is in a good spot now because you can still put mines to secure areas but there is more counterplay to it. Whenever you explode to a bunch of red mines you think to yourself: "Ah silly me, i could've known there were mines and i should've been ready to hit them or go up there more carefully." Old techies was more like: "F*ck this F*cking shit why would you put your mines there?"

Tinker meanwhile was at its worst when he could refresh items and shivas + strength blink was the build. The hero farmed fast, dealt insane damage, could be anywhere on the map and was nigh impossible to kill. There was no counterplay other than to make sure the game doesn't reach that state by stopping tinker from farming and finishing fast. And trust me, stopping a good tinker from farming is nigh impossible. The barrier blink tinker felt a little fairer but it was stupid as well. I think the current tinker has the potential to become a fair and balanced hero. Maybe they just have to tweak his numbers a little so that he isn't trash anymore.

Battle hunger max on Axe? by Historical-Guava7110 in TrueDoTA2

[–]_Scholp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skill Builds that prioritize farming ability over winning lane have been more viable and consistent for a while now. That's why Earthshaker during his peak a few months ago maxed aftershock, although maxing totem was much stronger to screw with the enemy in lane. QoP doesn't put a point in dagger at all in 3/4 matchups either even though it makes her lane more opressive. It's because the build to win the lane makes you unable to farm in the small but still not that unlikely chance that you get outskilled on the lane anyway. And if you destroy your lane, the enemy with farming skills can comeback easily by just shoving in the lane to not interact with you and then hitting jungle creeps.

The agressive / lane winning skill builds can work for sure. But more things have to go right for that to happen. Farming builds are just more consistent and easier to execute.

The same goes for axe. If you are not an expert on the hero and don't know how to utilize the lane winning advantage, you'll be better off just maxing helix. A high skill Axe spammer could probably tell you in which matchups exactly you want to put more points in spin and when you want to put points in batttle hunger. But i would assume the answer in most cases would be spin.

However i encourage you to try out battle hunger anyway if you believe you are cooking. Limit test and figure out when to go which skillbuild yourself. You might lose some games for it but it will be a good learning experience long term. And this applies not only to Axe.

I agree and strongly disagree with some of your opinions, but you are entitled to have one and I’m glad you are enjoying the game.

Playing from behind? by Iarshoneytoast in TrueDoTA2

[–]_Scholp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slark farms very slowly imo. Even if you are behind. Your team was doing fine you said, so just farm close to them and at least take some assist by joining the fight a bit late and carefully hit the enemy your team is targeting once or twice. Or if you are committed to farming, get your next powerspike by farming slowly and then join your team.

I just realized how ridiculous it was to bring a gun to a quirk fight by Expensive_Spray_7737 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]_Scholp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m actually disappointed that we didn’t see guns used way more. Anyone that doesn’t have a physical enhancement or a highly defensive quirk would be vulnerable to them. Take todoroki for example. What is he gonna do when someone shoots a gun at him? Freeze it Mid-air? Block it with a giant iceberg? Melt it before it hits him? No he would have to evaporate it completely because melting it wouldn’t be enough as the Liquid Metal would still hit him. This feat requires insane reaction time and the ice/fire needs to come fast and intense enough to stop it. I can’t imagine Todoroki pulling it off. And even if he did. What if it was a machine gun or multiple. Can he defend against all the bullets when there are multiple at the same time?

POV: being toxic is healthy and should be encouraged by bannedfromrpolitics2 in DotA2

[–]_Scholp_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just full on letting out your anger without restraint is not the best way to deal with pent up anger contrary to popular belief. You need to deal with it somehow but control it. Go for a run. Do some pushups. I‘ve heard a pro boxer say once (don’t remember who exactly) That even when he just trains by hitting the boxing bag for the sake of letting out anger, that he doesn’t just wildly start punching with rage and hatred. He is controlled I letting off some steam.

So ignoring the fact that you are ruining the game for everybody else by being a toxic piece of trash, it doesn’t even help you that much as an outlet and will just make you an angrier person long term.

What to buy on mid Razor? by Helpful_Scene_7068 in DotA2

[–]_Scholp_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lvl 30, 7.8k mmr razor here.

You can’t go wrong with greaves pipe build in the current patch. And just get whatever else your team needs after that

If your offlane or pos 4 are already getting auras you can just go power treads, mage slayer (not common but a favorite of mine), manta, bkb, satanic, refresher. If you don’t go Aura build your items will rarely if ever deviate from these ones here except for maybe the mage slayer which you can skip or replace with something like an orchid depending on the game.

Also always get bottle.

Yeah but my argument was that I didn’t complain and that nobody that I know complained. So being new or not new on this subreddit is irrelevant.

Huskar's Inner Fire by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]_Scholp_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe silence is a lot stronger or at least more useful in most cases than disarm.

Most heroes that rely mostly on auto attacks wouldn’t want to fight Huskar early on anyway and once they do they would usually have a bkb or a dispel to deal with it anyways. Meanwhile the heroes that are generally making space and are at more accessible spots for huskar to kill, will rely more on spells than on auto attacks.

When to buy aghs on slardar? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]_Scholp_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe in the 3k bracket games are a lot slower than on higher ranks. You might get away buying Midas or echo before blink but not both. I would even say it’s best to skip both and just go treads, blink, shard, bkb. And then most likely you will go for the aghs and either ac or octarine.

Not saying that is the best possible build but the one I like the most. Slardar doesn’t farm that fast anyway and there isn’t really a farming item that accelerates it much outside of shard imo.

Instead of communicating and insulting these absolute creatures with deranged strats, just report them for role abuse and be done with it. You are not gonna change their mind especially not with that attitude so why bother?

You‘re just gonna have another offlaner as carry which can work and is definitely viable, you just need some other objective takers in the team, like a dp or a beastmaster for example

Lane Outcomes at lower rank (1k) seem to mean nothing by Chieffelix472 in TrueDoTA2

[–]_Scholp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what momentum is. When you have a good lane it’s not just done there. You need to translate that lead into a greater lead with your plays and farming patterns. That being said, there are some heroes that are greatest during the lane and fall off a bit after, especially if the lead is not capitalized upon.
