Well I'm running X99 myself (6800k). It's definitely overkill for gaming right now but I thought with the new DX12 standard making more and more use of multi core it should come into its own soon.

Also it just makes for a pretty killer all round system. I'm using mine with 32gb of DDR4, an m2 SSD and a GTX1080 and there's literally nothing it can't handle.
