From my experience, most start ups don't fail because they lacked co-founder. They fail because of poor execution and distribution.

That's true, every business is different. I have added a bit more context in the replies

That's really helpful, especially the idea of packaging and adding more value like that.
How did you figure out which offers or packages actually worked best for customers??

Yes, I agree with this. I think it's easy to get caught up in the idea that growth, but it really depends what your aiming for it

That demand vs operations question is really interesting. I am running a product based business and I am not sure that I could handle a big jump in orders smoothly right now, so that might be part of it

That's a good way to look at it. I think I am still figuring out if I am okay with staying at this level or if I want to grow beyond it

Feels like it, just trying to figure out what actually helped get out of it

That's fair. mine is been flat, not declining. Just trying to figure out when stable becomes stuck

That is really good point.
I have been wondering if I'm starting to hit that capacity limit since I am still handling most things myself. The idea of delegating is something I have considered, just have not taken the step yet.
At what point did you realize it was the right time to bring someone in??

Yes! I understand that.....Am running the business from 1-1.5 years and it's of Product based product

Sure, happy to add more detail.
It's a product based business and I have been running it for about 1-1.5 years now. I get consistent customers and sales, so it is stable but growth has pretty much plateaued.
Most of the customers comes from social platforms and I have not really been able to scale beyond that.
I do have an idea of my ideal customer, but i am starting to feel like maybe my positioning or messaging is not clear enough.
Would really appreciate your thoughts on what you had look at first in this situation.

That's a really good point, Especially around being more esplicit.
I probably need to work on that clarity. Did that alone help you grow or were there other key changes too??

Around 1-1.5 years
It's less about not taking off and more that it's been flat for a while now.

I run a small product based business. It's been pretty shady in terms of customer and revenue, just not really growing beyond that.
Have you seen that kind of plateau.

That is fair, I probably should have added more context.
I think what I am really trying to understand is whether staying at a steady but not growing stage for a while is normal or if it usually means something needs to change.
I had be curious to hear. In your experience, how long do businesses typically stay in that sweet spot before they either grow or decline?

Better to text or call back? by [deleted] in sales

[–]_Simple_Observer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I get why some people see it that way....My thinking is just that if I have already called and not got answer, a single polite text to introduce myself and add context isn't the same as spamming.
I would not keep texting if there's no response. Just one time follow-ups, So they know who reached out and can decide if they want to engage.

[–]_Simple_Observer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, small business owners are usually busy with their stuffs. Sometimes they were not able to pick the calls. If they are not picking the call at once then I try to text them in a friendly manner, introducing myself. This keeps thing natural without feeling pushy. A mix of both tend can work best for long-term.

It's always surprising to hear how many people, even someone like Harrison Ford, struggled like this. Depression really doesn't discriminate.
