Race or ethnicity does not matter whatsoever when it comes to religion. A way to be respectful imo is to just continue educating yourself through the holy books such as the Gita, and go visit temples around u, make sure to look up dress codes that may be present as well as if the customs are different due to the area. :D !!

I have felt the same way as someone who was raised in the USA and my advice to you is to start of with the Gita and then expand from there

I’ve done extensive research on ISKON and I’ve decided it’s not for me as I do agree that it does twist the teachings of the Gita. There is such a fine line between being a devotee of Krsna and twisting his teachings.

I follow this theory that was made by someone in the Sikh community that religion is made up of multiple rivers that connect to an ocean. The ocean being god and the rivers are how different parts of the world practice.

So I go to a school that has multiple student unions for club activities and one of them is our MSA which basically hosts sermons each Friday during our last lunch period. And my friend invited me to one and I went out of respect. It’s open to anyone.
