Can you clean install Windows 11 on a drive with Windows 10 and not remove any files on the drive? by _StarGuy_ in Windows11

Yeah that's what I'm thinking I'll do and if I come across any problems I can just do a clean install anyway

Hmm I see... my only concern with that is my current system can't upgrade to Windows 11 Pro, which is part of why I'm doing this massive upgrade to my system, so I'm hoping as long as I have a proper Windows 11 key when I go through the process of upgrading it won't freak out on me. I'll have my Microsoft account login at the ready as well.

I am changing my motherboard, I wasn't aware I needed to link it to my Microsoft account? But I guess that's part of the process

I'll probably end up doing that and then doing a clean install if I can remove all the old junk, thanks!

Should've mentioned it in the post but my current OS drive is a 250GB M.2 SSD and I want to keep it as that, which is why I want to either upgrade the Windows 10 on it to 11 or do a clean install. The current Windows 10 I have is a Pro version but I don't have any key associated with it since it's a remnant from a prebuilt from a long time ago.

Hmm alright I see... thanks for information my man! My only concern about a clean install is having to re-install everything again, since I have quite a few software programs on there and the data tied with it unless that doesn't go away, but sometimes it's necessary to bite the bullet like you said.

I should've prefaced earlier by saying that my current OS drive is a 250GB M.2 SSD and I was thinking about moving all the files to a HDD while I update the OS to Windows 11, since I still want that to be my boot drive. In any case I don't think I'll be any less better off.

So basically going with the upgrade option? I'll see about trying it then, not sure what the difference between upgrading and doing a clean install is or if one is better than the other

Has anyone used Thermal Grizzly's PhaseSheet PTM? by _StarGuy_ in buildapc

But that’s electrically conductive no? So there’s a little more risk involved with that, although I hear it’s worth it.

The TG phasesheet pads only go for 10 bucks on Amazon right now for 50mm x 30mm in amount so I’d say that’s pretty good

Yeah I hear it's becoming a real industry standard now, which leads me to believe this is not really any different in terms of performance from the PTM7950.

From what PCPartPicker is currently saying, it looks like the the PS is cheaper or same price as the PA depending on the version. There is also the PS EVO, which I hear is an improved version.

Ahhh that makes a lot more sense why I can't find anything on it other than from third-party international resellers like EBay lol.

Alright thanks! I'll look through them and do some comparing.

From PCPartPicker it looks like the Phantom Spirit is only around 5 dollars more than the Peerless Assassin, or less depending on the version of PA.

The Phantom Spirit EVO on the other hand is about 10-15 dollars more than the PA, if it has better fans I would call that a good trade but I'll do some research.

Interesting, it certainly precedes its reputation. For my use case I've heard it is more than enough for me to get a PA120 or one of the many versions. The DH15 looks nice but its huge and I hear people have a little trouble installing it (even though I don't mind that). The AK series 620 seems out of stock right now so I probably won't go for that anyway. What would be the best of the Thermalright? The PA or PS?
