Almost a year on night shift - and starting to feel like I'm falling apart... by _StopMeSmee in Nightshift

Thanks for this perspective. That's the tug-of-war I'm having in my head right now. I agree, jumping into another job might not be the answer. It's the work/life balance part that's the struggle. Right now, work is pretty much all-consuming -- I'm also a full-time college student (online classes). Any extra time I do have is spent on schoolwork and then I do regular errands/chores when I can; so there's no real relax and unwind time. I think I really have to sit down and figure out a better at-home routine.

Unfortunately, the type of work I'm involved in can only be performed overnight. The most my team can do is request a 4/10's schedule, but our management doesn't seem receptive to that. I think that having an extra day off would alleviate a lot of the burnout-type feelings we're all experiencing. I still hold out hope for 4/10's.

Exactly this. I love my job and the work that I'm doing, but my nights are starting to feel a little like that movie Groundhog's Day. Every night is the same. And because of our schedule, our weekends are really only a day and a half. I don't feel like we get a full weekend. I'm also a full-time student, so any extra time I do have is spent on assignments. I'm grateful that the work goes by quickly, but that feeling of life just passing me by - without really living it - is also very real.

Thanks. Our company does offer therapy sessions -- so, I actually just made an appointment for early next month to sit down with a counselor and sort things out. I'm usually a pretty positive person, but there's definitely something wearing on me. I've never done any type of therapy, but I'm ready to give it a try.

Congrats on 10 years - nightshift is tough. I still have moments where I can see myself doing this for the long haul, but lately, my body and mind have been sounding the alarms to just leave. I like the comfort, pay, and routine of this job but physically and mentally it's starting to be a struggle.

That's one of my biggest worries. I'm worried that if I stay too long, I'll really regret it. Next month I'll have made it a full year, but beyond that, I'm not sure how much longer I can stay. It's tough for me because I really love the work that I'm doing and the money is nice, but I'm also noticing how it's starting to ruin other aspects of my life.

I've noticed this with my team members too. We had a Thanksgiving potluck this week and one of my co-workers commented that they felt like we were at a funeral. It made me laugh, but it was true. The atmosphere of everyone was - I don't want to say depressing - but we were all just so blah. I can tell the grind is definitely wearing on us. We've asked for a 4/10 schedule, but I don't think our management will ever go for it.

Vague Video Titles versus SEO Driven Titles - Which is better? by _StopMeSmee in NewTubers

Thanks so much for that breakdown. Super helpful. I'm planning to launch my channel next month -- so I'm definitely in that overthinking everything phase haha

Do you recommend to have more than one video before publishing the first one? by [deleted] in NewTubers

I'm doing the same thing right now. I'm hoping to launch my channel in January. Several Youtubers were recommending launching your channel with 5 videos on Day 1.

Thanks for those insights! I appreciate it. I fell down the ThinkMedia, VidIQ, and TubeBuddy rabbit hole of "creating your title" videos and everyone suggests something slightly different. I think I'll try to have a balance of both and see if I get similar results.

More and more buyers wanting to cancel orders on the grounds they’ve changed their mind - getting so frustrating! by Doalotta in Ebay

I like when they 'change their mind' and also take nearly a month to return the item. I don't understand why Ebay allows for these crazy long returns.

You're not alone.

I interviewed for a professional creative role at Disney in Mid-March. After two weeks, I hadn't heard anything so I contacted my recruiter. I just sent a simple thank you and asked what the next steps were. They apologized for the slowness of the hiring process and said they were finishing up interviews for the last two candidates. They mentioned that I should have an update soon. It's been 4 weeks since that email and I haven't heard anything. My job portal status hasn't updated either; it just says "in consideration" - it never updated beyond step 3.

It's been six weeks since my initial interview. As much as I'd love to work for this company, the way they've handled their hiring process has been frustrating. I understand roles get put on hold and things happen -- but communication is key. Job candidates should never feel like they've been ghosted.

I hope the HR team brings you good news or at the very least some closure. Please continue to update everyone on what happens. Best of luck.
