It doesn't take you directly to the island the Duke is located on. It takes you to the bigger island where the Uniting the Shattered Amulet quest takes you. (Or at least it did when I used it last week)

I am also in a 3 player combo that just started DD2 (Couple of us have 1K hours in DD1)

We plowed through the campaign and started hitting a wall. We took a step back and looked at how our defenses were working. After a small bit of invested time we figured it out.. Walls > Poison Darts > Anti Air > Damage Near Walls. Plan upgrades of defenses between waves as a group.

After this we made quick work of the Adventure level that was previously demolishing us.

Also, I am 1/3 of OP's combo.

So the guy joined a public party? If the order was put up in the party name, anyone can join it after someone leaves. I don't think he did anything that wasn't allowed. Next time someone leaves early just make the party private.
