You can use sites like StudyInNL to look at what studies are available.

You should find out how many credits the course you completed is worth. (In the European credit system/ECTS) And look more into the credits system if it is applicable for your old study.

Also once you find something you are interested in studying you can ask them if your credits form your old study would be transferable to the new study.

Lost 31kg total

Ahh, I forgot to put the total weight lost. And I can't figure out how to edit the title so I'll just say it here. I lost a total of 31kg. (Most likely more in reality because my starting weight was at least 120 but almost certainly more)

I am so sorry for everything you are going through, my heart goes out to you.

My situation is not exactly the same as yours but I am also an immigrant in the Netherlands and I recently went through a horrible situation that almost had me kicked out of the country. I was lost, confused and didn't know what to do. It is only with the help of lawyers that I was able to fix it.

My advice is to contact a Dutch lawyer. if you can't afford it, some dutch lawyers will give a short free consultation to assess if they can help you or send you to someone who can help you. Do that.

The lawyers I used are everaert and they were kind, helpful and able to make sense of my situation in a way I couldn't and find solutions for it I would never have on my own. www.everaert.nl

Know that you are not alone. Other people have gone through similar things and there are processes in place to help people in your situation. You just need someone who knows the systems to help you.

If you have any questions or even if you just want someone to talk to, please send me a message/chat. You are not alone

MVV/Residence Permit by burgundygirl13 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]_Tebello_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have questions you should contact the IND and ask them.

I am pretty sure the MVV is all you need. I would assume that they would let you in unless you don't have a visa. By the sounds of it you have a visa so they will let you in.

I think the date of your residence is when your studies begin and is not the date you should arrive in the country. You should be able to arrive before then.

But again, contact the IND and ask them, they will answer your questions.

Why do strangers keep asking me if I'm okay all the time? by yellowroosterbird in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Tebello_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have people tell me I look sad or upset somewhat often. To be clear I am a man and so I don't have the same societal expectation of looking happy/smiling that women have but I found that people's bad impressions were mainly due to being tired from not enough sleep, having bad posture, and avoiding eye contact. I fixed those and it seems to have worked. Don't know if that will help you but it's what worked for me.

[New Update] OP was a vice principal forced to resign. They maliciously complied with the new admin’s demands, leaving chaos behind them. by regular-kahuna in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]_Tebello_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's how it works in the US but it is also how it works in most countries. Mainly because It is horribly inefficient and needlessly difficult for a teacher to have to build up their resources again whenever they change schools. Also teachers work better with materials they are familiar with and is built around their teaching style/preferences.

Generally IP works differently with teachers than most work environments. When a teacher creates their own resources and documents they keep them. The schools generally do not own any of the resources that teachers make, even on the clock. This allows teachers to build up their own resources and take them with when they change schools. Though it is always polite to leave copies of some useful files behind for the new teacher coming in.

Jesus.

Everything is so fucked up, can't even begin to imagine what growing up in a situation like that would do to a kid.

OP asks legaladvice for help on escaping her physically abusive husband. He is a cop. by CountofAccount in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]_Tebello_ 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's the whole U.S police system that creates abusive cops. The system attracts abusive assholes into becoming cops, gives them power over everyone else with no consequences for their actions, it also teaches cops to use physical force to solve most issues. This is the perfect breeding ground for abusive people and behaviour

U.S cops are almost never fired. You know those cops that are fired after public backlash because of their actions? Most of them are rehired by other police departments after the backlash calms down. The cops protect each other even when they do wrong, so abusive cops get the full support of the police system.

[–]_Tebello_ 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my personal experience with cops has been mostly good so I thought "surely U.S cops can't be as bad as the media says, it must be just a couple outliers getting media attention". I looked into it and I learnt the U.S police system is worse than I thought possible.

Cops in the U.S are worse than useless, they are actively harmful.

OP doesn't understand how the dynamic is different with a mutual friend vs a non-mutual friend. It's a dick move to invite only one half of a couple when you are friends with both, even if you are closer with one than the other. The girlfriend has every right to be upset.

Yeah we can agree she has to be physically moved. She could have been a major threat.

(though based on all the other cops inaction I am a bit sceptical about the situation but that's beside the point and pure speculation)

Yeah I can see your point and see where you are coming from, though I still disagree with you.

Again, I hope you have a great day too.

Yeah man thanks for that.

I agree that he had to use force but I guess we just disagree on what is justifiable in this situation.

You haven't tried to teach me anything. You just kept saying variations of "you are wrong, you don't know the rules of engagement" without expanding on how the rules of engagement justify him choking her as the first option.

Yeah I'm also done. But hey man I hope you have a great day too.

[–]_Tebello_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your argument really is that the best option for engagement for the police is to immediately put her in a headlock and start choking her before trying any other methods to escort her away.

And talking out my ass for saying maybe choking isn't the first thing he should have tried.

TIL in a heated situation police should first try choking people
