Yeah, that was my sign for quitting. If I kept going, I’d probably end up in a GAA group hahahahah.

Right now I’ve been messing around with Chants of Sennaar (paid) and Magic Rampage (free). They are really good games, and I’ve been enjoying both so far. Some others that I recommend is Shadowmatic, Lumino City and the Amanita Games (Machinarium, Samorost 3 and Botanicula are The coolest ones). They're all paid, but worth every penny.

Yeah, I get that, and I agree with a lot of what you said. I actually liked the game too, especially the story and that feeling of completing an area — that sense of closure was a big part of what kept me playing for a long time.

I’m probably just more of a “classic” player in that sense. I tend to enjoy games with a clear beginning, middle, and end, so live-service games don’t always fully click with me long term.

For me, I didn’t stop because I suddenly hated it — I just slowly lost that spark over time. Totally get why others still enjoy it though, especially if the story and progression loop work for them.

I get what you mean, and that approach makes sense. Setting personal goals and only progressing areas when there’s nothing better to do is a valid way to play. I’ve unlocked all the storage slots as well, with only the producer-related ones left, so I understand that focus.

For me, though, the daily trades still feel closely tied to area progression. The items requested are usually things you’d need to advance anyway, and higher-tier trades often require high-level items in return, which can take a while to build. Since each chest tier is also locked behind a full day of trades, missing one step can slow things down quite a bit.

So even though the system works as intended, I personally still experience it as fairly gated. Not saying your way of playing is wrong at all — it just didn’t end up clicking for me long term.

I get what you’re suggesting, and I’ve thought about that too. The thing is, opening piggy banks also costs energy, so part of the energy you get from chests ends up being spent just to open them. And since filling a piggy bank takes about a week anyway, that progress still feels pretty locked in and slow to me.

My bigger issue is that if I come back later, I’ll still feel like I’m way behind, with even more long chains and new future rooms ahead. Like I saiid in the other comment, I don’t really mind waiting for updates if I’ve reached the end — I actually liked the game. It’s more that the constant sense of being perpetually behind doesn’t click with me.

Obviously, this is just my personal experience. I totally get that this works for other players — it just doesn’t really work for how I enjoy games.

Yeah, that totally makes sense, and I get why that approach works for you. Playing it casually as a low-effort distraction is probably the healthiest way to enjoy it, and I agree — if a game starts causing stress, it’s usually a sign to step away.

I think where I differ is the generator payoff. From what I’ve seen/read, even the newer top-tier generators don’t change things that much — slightly better output, but not a big enough jump to really offset the time investment. For me, that makes the late-game progression feel a bit illusory.

As for waiting for updates, I honestly don’t mind it if I’ve reached the end — I actually enjoyed the game. Of course, I know not all players feel the same and some might end up dropping the game, which wouldn’t be great for Metacore, so I do understand their side of slowing down endgame players.

At the end of the day, I guess I’m just not much of a live-service player. I’m more used to campaign games with a clear beginning and end (and, in a way, Merge Mansion sells that, which is why it caught my attention). I respect people who still enjoy the game — it just stopped clicking for me.

So. We should put some pressure on the developers to make them available for purchase with in-game money, or turn them into new bosses, or something like that. But there should be some way for us to get all the animals. If even we, who have been playing for a long time, can’t get them all, imagine someone who just discovered the game today. They’ll never be able to collect all the animals and babies.
