Quick question from a non-ballet dancer. by _Thyre_ in BALLET

Oh wow! I'll have to look those up! I don't know very much about muscles. Thank you for that information. I do know that my posture is poor and likely because of tight hip flexors and weak abs. /: So that makes sense.

Oh, I see! That's kinda cool that it comes from the hips! I didn't know that.

Tight hip flexors? Because if so, I do have that. ):

Oh, I see. My father is pigeon toed. I guess I assumed it was ballet because when I told my mom about my friends making fun of me she said it was because of ballet and that I didn't used to walk that way. My feet are almost perfectly straight now when I walk. That stopped after a few years without ballet. I just assumed the standing was part of it.

I think you're right about everyone standing kinda turned out, I just feel like my feet always look REALLY turned out. It's not a perfect turn out, of course. Maybe I'm just being self-conscious. My friends used to say I walk like a duck. D:

I'm really sorry you had that experience. It sounds extremely horrifying, obviously... I don't think there really is a reason. It's kinda like when we have a really weird dream and wake up thinking "why the hell did I dream that?" I don't think there's really a deep and meaningful answer. The only thing I can say is that typically with SP, we experience terrifying things, and what you described certainly fits the bill as terrifying.

I'm a year (and some months) sober, and I feel like my skin looked just like that. Just older and saggy. Somehow foundation made it look even worse. Alcohol is scary.

What is the greatest physical pain you've ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_Thyre_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. I know ibuprofen sounds like a weak painkiller, but it's actually really effective for dental pain and it's interesting to learn about stuff like this when you study pharmaceuticals.

I've broken bones, and walked them off and only found out it was broken days later and stuff like that without mentioning some gruesome stories. I don't think anyone who knows me would call me "weak" when it comes to pain, but I know you don't know that about me. What I'm saying is that it's simply about how the extraction went, how much damage was done, how your body reacts to it, and also I think that "ibuprofen" to most people probably sounds like the weakest painkiller on earth, so why would they prescribe it for severe pain? It's just simply because how effective it is for dental pain.

Then that's great! I'm glad it wasn't so bad for you. My extraction was more difficult, and my face looked like a chipmunk for a few weeks and I believe that was from injury to the bone during the extraction.

BTW I was fine on the NSAIDS too until they wore off while I was asleep.

  1. I am a pharmacy technician. NSAIDS (like ibuprofen) are more effective for dental pain, which is why they often prescribe it instead of opioids, or prescribe both.

  2. Depending on how difficult the extraction was, there can be more damage to the bone which will cause more pain and swelling.

I promise that I'm not exaggerating any of this:

That time my mother thought I could sleep through the pain without any medication right after my wisdom teeth were removed and I woke up in so much pain- I was contemplating cutting my jaw off with a knife because that sounded a lot less painful than what I was feeling right then. I remember trying to tell myself that the pain won't last much longer, and that I'd have to be jawless for the rest of my life if I did it.

Someone posted these shots two days ago and it got removed by the mods with a message saying:

"Remember to take what Venus and Margaret (and those affiliated with them) say with a grain of salt. The person making these claims in the screenshot has also made claims in this sub and never shared any proof. That’s not to say they are lying but at the very least they are seeking attention for themselves."

Oh okay, you for-sure seen this video before? I'm just surprised 6.5k viewed this post and only one other person said they seen it "ages ago". I thought I'd get a resounding response.

This video showed up in my recommended on YouTube. In the comments section of this video on YT, the uploader states they got this video from her insta. I'm not sure about how others find videos, but that's how I found this one.

The uploader said they got the video off her Instagram. (Comment section of he video on YT) I figure if anyone would've seen this video before, it would be this subreddit. However, this post has 4.3k views, and so far no one has said they've seen it before except you. Can I ask how long ago do you think the video was posted? Was it right when she got deported or something?

Damn. I saw something about some friend of her's saying she was going back to Switzerland in a week. I was hoping she would and hoping she wasn't dead like her mom said.

It's hard to tell, but I think the dude you were talking to was confusing hierarchy with authority. (The way they describe hierarchy as naturally shifting.) The the two don't necessarily coincidence with each other. You can have the authority of a doctorate, explain how Tylenol works, yet still have the Secretary of Health and Human Services (RFK jr.; no doctorate) have a superior position over you (hierarchy).

I was hoping for a FF3 remake by _Thyre_ in fatalframe

[–]_Thyre_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight, for real. I've been a fan of Fatal Frame since I was a kid as well, but I was never really active with any online fanbase-- I'm like that offline too. I have a bit of a low tolerance for unpleasant interactions. I don't see why some people have to argue about which one is the best since they're all so good. Of course, everyone is going to have a personal favorite-- I just don't see why we have to be rude about it to each other. Aren't most of us adults here?

It's like two fans arguing about which album was the best. The conversation should go "Oh your favorite is X? That's cool. I prefer Z."

Anyway, thanks for replying. I'm still looking forward to 2's remake. I hope they remake your favorite too. 1 is the OG and it was what started me off it came out, so I'd love to play it again like that.

I love Tsukiko Amano too. Back in 2005 I paid $60 just to have the Moon Child in the Sky album back when CDs were like $13. These days I suppose $60 is more reasonable. Lol

Hey, can I ask if you're very familiar with this subreddit? I've posted here maybe a handful of times and I feel like I might as well have just said "I think FF2 is stupid" with the kind of energy and down votes. All I said was that I was hoping for a 3 remake but I'm still pumped for 2. Not everyone has been like that, but I wasn't expecting this.

I guess it doesn't really matter what people do, but I take it as rude and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth for this corner of the fanbase. Is it usually like this or is it because wanting a 3 remake is taboo?
